Damn ... they all look pretty sweet. I just bought a 4GB Nano earlier this year and I'm pretty content ... love the battery life on this thing! The new Nano doesn't seem to add enough to make me want to trade up -- video definitely isn't a priority. A 160 gigger would be something though. Until now, only a few obscure brands of players like Archos had something in this range. In all honesty, I'm really hoping some other major players like Creative get on the AAC bandwagon, so I have more choices when it comes to a big gig player.

My husband got me the archos for Xmas last year. He hogs it all the time and I have been so disgusted that I don't even touch it. Based on all this info, should I put my foot down and ask for MY f-ing Xmas present back??? lol

No. You need to hop on the bandwagon and get an iPod so you can be a cool NWOer. Unlike some tig... people, I mean.

HC, if the battery is no longer holding a charge, they have battery replacement kits which include instructions and tools for really cheap. It's real easy too. I would check eBay.

Since we're on the topics of eBay and Apple, yesterday I won a Powerbook 5300 in near mint condition for only $22! I'm a bit of an Apple laptop collector:

Don't let the Tigger fool ya. He's a big giant phony pussycat. I know for a fact that he has a 60G pod. And pockets?!...he likely wears his commando style in the front of his pants so he can feel extra specially close to it. On a related note, I'm getting him an iPod cheese-cleaner kit for Christmas.

The $100.00 will go nicely with the apparent boot to the nuts you got when you bought the phone. Seriously though, not a bad gesture in todays "Fuck You" world.

I ended up with a PowerBook 3400 several months ago. I'm not sure what I want to do with it. I'd like to take my old Macs and build some sort of Mac totem pole, but I can't stand the thought of tearing them up.

The 3400 is next on my list. So far, I have:

- the first Bondi Blue iBook
- a "Snow" G3 iBook with translucent case
- a G4 iBook, opaque case
- Lombard Powerbook
- Titanium Powerbook
- Powerbook 1400cs
- Powerbook 5300
- Powerbook Duo 230
- Powerbook 520c
- Powerbook 165c
- eMate 300
- 2 Mac Portables (the very first "portable" Mac), one with the original case. This is insane, look at the original MSRP: $6500! http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/p ... table.html Can you imagine lugging one of those to work every day?

I collect the laptops because they're far easier to store compared to the desktops and towers. I used to have a Quadra 800 A/V and a Performa 6220. I wish I hung onto them but I was really strapped for space and in those days I wasn't really thinking like a collector. Right now, I have a G4 400mhz tower and a dual ghz G5 tower under my desk. I have a KVM switch between the two and sometimes use them both when my workload requires it. I also have the original iMac in my son's room.
