The Amazon MP3 Store- A New Day Dawns!

Amazon cuts into Apple's pie with it's competing download service.

Amazon now offers mp3 downloads that are compatible with PC or Mac and are unprotected files that can be shared with your choice of player or application- including iTunes and the iPod!

The DRM free downloads are .99 or less (Apple charges 1.29 for DRM free song files) and are automatically downloaded to the application of your choice (iTunes, etc.)

Being a Mac user, I've been waiting for this day to come. First attempt to download went off without a hitch.

Even though Apple has something like 6 million songs, there's still a lot they don't have. Thanks, Amazon!

Download the Amazon MP3 Downloader software and your first download is free!

Very cool ... I'll give it a try. I can't believe they already have amassed such a huge library of downloads already! I searched on 'Big Country' (i.e., moderately obscure) just for kicks and I was surprised how many songs were available.

I'm glad they have album bundle prices (unlike Beatport). Now they just need to make the album download work without their software.

Lossless would be nice :).
