It's not just your lawn you need to worry about ... the squirrels might be coming for something else next time:

I'm telling you, Philly, it's all a part of the Animal Conspiracy.

Philly, are there any flaming squirrels in your Brooklyn neighborhood?

Maybe to the north, in the Slope? Or across the bridge, in the West Village. We know they're out there, in the trees, but it's hard to tell which way they swing.

Hi Philly, Just wanted to let you know that there is one less squirrel in the world this morning. Driving to work this morning I took one out!! Damn thing ran right in front of my car, I had no time to swerve and I ran it over. Oh well!! Now, can you do me a favor? My Dad has two cats that have befriended a Opossum, big fat ugly thing eats and sleeps with these two incredibly stupid cats. It is way too big for me to run over, got any suggestions???

Thank you for running over that squirrel. I suggest everyone do the same. Don't risk crashing which is what they want. Hit them!
As for the possum, the cats are lucky to not be dead. They must have all been young so they bonded. If you get an animal young enough it needs to bond to others. Just leave them alone and they will be fine. The possum will move on when it gets a few months older. They are ugly but they are great to have around. They eat mice and rats. In fact in Brooklyn, they introduced a bunch into a neighborhood to top a rat problem.

I guess your right, its just that this thing freaks me out everytime I have to feed the dumb cats, it sits to the side and then bellies up to the food bowl. For a few months we couldn't understand where all the food was going then this thing just made itself at home. I guess it could be worse, it could have been a squirrel!!

I punched one today. Not a slap or a hit,...a punch! It was digging up my garden as usual when I pulled up. I rolled down the window and beeped the horn. He just looked at me and went back to work. So I got out and said "oh no you did not just ignore me". So he runs to this lame baby tree next door and I follow. He does not even try going high. He just goes to the first branch....in my reach! I made a fist and yelled fuck you and POW!I knocked his ass out of the tree and he runs to the top of another one. Tell all your friends...Philly don't play around.

Some words of wisdom from Caddyshack:

Carl Spackler (Bill Murray): License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever. They're like the Viet Cong - Varmint Cong. So you have to fall back on superior intelligence and superior firepower. And that's all she wrote.

Carl Spackler: I have to laugh, because I've outsmarted even myself. My enemy, my foe, is an animal. In order to conquer the animal, I have to learn to think like an animal. And, whenever possible, to look like one. I've gotta get inside this guy's pelt and crawl around for a few days.
