Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

Postby circemuse » Mon Nov 05, 2007 11:46 am

Umbu on metafilter sped up the song a bit thinking that it sounded a bit too slow, and Gemmy posted it here.

Rene emailed me today:

Hi Dan,

Sorry but I can't help you. I put the song on the site just the way I have it on an old tape. I recorded the song a little bit late so it's not complete. And the sound quality didn't depend on the mp3 but on the quality of my old tape.

Ciao RenŽ

I also e-mailed our resident Norwegian member seffe about Kaj's sugestion, and he e-mailed me back this:

"Hey Glok! I`ve been in England the last weeks. Football, beer and vinylshooping. Anyway. Can´t help you with the song, but I`ll ask around.
seffe/knut"

And then this second e-mail:

"I`ve read the site about Svein Hovland (Panorame wrote about it). The only thing I`ve got is an album by The band called The Colour Turns Red. I can check that one if you like."
A few hours ago, following Glokstädt's post, I've contacted the one and only discogs member who has the album. I've asked him to listen to the mystery song and tell us if it's 'Second Time' from his Blind Date lp.
No answer so far...

Update!
Discogs member 'SevenWords' has replied that our mystery song is NOT Second Time by Blind Date...

I also sent the link to a seller & got the following reply:

Sorry, but it's not Blind Date. I listened to my vinyl to check.

Hi!

I listened to both songs and am sorry to inform you that it isn't the song you're looking for. Good luck for your search though! :)

Someone named OsAbliNgin91 posted this comment to youtube:
"The mystery has been solved. The band is Dagaband."

I thought Dagaband had been eliminated?

I found this post about Dagaband. Interesting....

Scottish trio Dagaband were the lost link in the early British neo-prog movement. Contemporaries of Marillion, Twelfth Night and Solstice, they never managed to make more than a single (this) and a 4-track EP (Second Time Around) during their lifetime.

These tracks have promise—at least the moody instrumental “Images” does—but aren’t anything truly special. The keys/bass/drums trio are oft-compared to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and while the organ/synth heavy format is obviously ELP-influenced, the end result is more like The Alan Parsons Project. Particularly “Images”, which is in much the same vein as the instrumentals from I Robot and Pyramid.

We sort of ruled them out because Dagaband appears to be a metal band (although looking at the above description, maybe they aren't). I emailed the dj on a metal show who recently played that song according to his playlists. Hopefully he will respond soon.

So maybe the "some not so much" is our track --
