[/quote]It's gotta be both for me. I was in high school '80-'84 & new wave music was absolutely a breath of fresh air from hard rock. My NW exposure was mostly via the local (crap) radio which barely touched the surface of NW, so, yeah, now-a-days the nostalgia arises when I hear the overplayed "hits" of the 80's. But don't get me wrong, I still love 'em.
Like the others have posted above, filling in the gaps is high on my list now. There was so much out there that I missed I sometimes wonder if I slept through the decade.
I don't listen to much else besides NW because my kids are always playing High School Musical or that Montana girl.

Like you, nothing resonates with me like New Wave. In 1979, when I was a soph in high school, I heard Pop Muzik played on the radio in SLC and my musical preference was cemented.
I enjoy several genres of music, but if I had to choose only one to which I could listen, it would be New Wave.
My signature line says it all.

Well honestly the only time I ever listen to new wave or even 80's music is on Friday or Saturday night when I'm driving around town grocery shopping or something... yes, my life is exciting I know.
I went through alot of genres of music through my 20's and into my 30's. It all sort of depended on what my life was like at the moment. The only band that has really stuck with me through all of it is Depeche Mode.
In the last 10 years or so I've really mostly been listening to electro, EBM and industrial. But of course, the roots of that genre are linked to new wave, so naturally new wave will always have a place in my heart... aww..[|)]
