Just finished watching "Reds" while grinding up my special Christmas Eve shrimp bisque. Damn what a great movie that was. Beatty at his acting/directing/scripting/producing best, getting Oscar nominations for all those and winning the director one. It drives me nuts when all that someone gets out of it is something like "what an idiot - he didn't know how good he had it here." It seems that outcomes are rarely what people originally intend. Sometimes the ideals and journey are the more interesting and important parts.

Superbad. It wasn't Super good, but wasn't Super bad either. I really liked Michael Cera a lot, as well as McLovin & the cops. I really could have done with MUCH, much less of the fat kid though. He was just disgusting.

"The Changeling" with George C Scott. Ghost story from around 1980. Not bad, not great. Definitely some good creepy moments.

The Simpsons Movie - Loved it, I'll have to watch it again.

Knocked Up - Liked it, although I guess I'm not the target market for Apatow because I thought it was aimed at teenaged boys. It wasn't bad though.

I don't really get a chance to go out to the movies to see anything and most of the movies that have come out this year have made me react with extreme derision and disgust when I've seen their previews, so I'm not going to be good with the whole new flick thing. I saw one of my favorite movies last Thursday night -- [i]Waking Life[/i], which is a fascinating film about life and death and existence and meaning. One of my favorite movie quotes ever is in that movie: "On really romantic evenings of self, I go salsa dancing with my confusion."
