I'm like motors. They would NEVER choose me. I was called and just sat around.

Motors on a jury...a WTPOS trial...I'm sure you render an impartial decision.

I was sent a letter advising me that I would be called in at some future time for the selection process, but they never called. Which one of you tipped them off?

Got called up twice in past 10 years but told them that I was the only source of income for my family and that a lengthy trial will result in a hardship to my family....was told to ignore the notice and I haven't been called up since.

I can only imagine it would go something like this...

Motors: "Jaywalking today, child molesting tomorrow- why take this risk? Now get the rope!"

I got called to serve in 2000 about a week after I went to work for the Department of Corrections. It was for a murder trial. But as soon as I told them I was a Corrections employee, and that the defendant could feasibly go to prison...they sent me home.

I spent two months on a jury on a child molestation case. The prosecution did represent the two daughters well. Out of frustration, we found the guy either "not guilty" or no verdict (hoping he'd be re-tried of the twenty-two counts. It's too bad the jury couldn't recommend to the District Attorney to get her act together and represent the two daughters appropriately with real psychological evaluations (we had none! And dealt with inconsistent testimonies).

I've never received notice of jury duty. One of the benefits of not being a registered voter. (Just joking.)

I reported at 8:45 am, they showed "Christmas With the Kranks", after the movie was over, right around 11, they sent the entire room home. A waste of time. I hope I still get my $12.

When are you "at risk" again?
In New York I believe I am safe for 6 years.

Believe me, I was mighty pleased. Apparently, only one trial scheduled for the whole day and they brought out the list of who was being called and before the guy could read it off, another bailiff called out to stop and about 3 minutes later came out and said there would be no trials today, everyone could go. In Arizona, i'm safe for 2 years.

I got a letter and questionnaire in the mail about 4 months ago. I filled it out in capitalized latters with a sharpie marker. When I got to the box that asks if I think there is any reason why I can't fulfill jury duty, I wrote my various reasons all over the whole page (the box was only 3x3"). My husband said, "You're going to go to jail for that!" And I said, "But at least I won't be on jury duty!" [:D] I haven't heard from them yet....

I got summoned for Jury Duty last week.

I can't wait to tell the Lawyers that I have no biases. Why, I can tell if someone is guilty just by looking at him.

Almost every year I get called up for jury duty, and every time I send the judge this letter:

I can't possibly express just how much I appreciate it that you have seen fit to choose me to serve as a juror. For me, this is a lifelong dream. You see, ever since I was a small child, I faithfully watched every episode of Perry Mason. Thanks to watching the court cases of Perry Mason, and later the exploits of Ben Matlock, I confidently feel that I can be a huge asset to the judicial system. Having watched all the shifty characters enter into the courtroom on Perry Mason, and witnessing the underhanded antics of Mr. Mason's archnemesis District Attorney Hamilton Burger, I have no doubt that nothing will get past my watchful eyes. As an added bonus, just like my mother and grandmother before me, I have amazing intuitive abilities which allow me to see into the heart of anyone (comes with having Indian blood is my guess). That would be quite useful in the pursuit of justice, wouldn't it? Yes, as you can see, I will be a major asset in your crusade of justice and I look forward to serving with you in this most noble cause.

Thankfully, my state (considering I revealed I live only 90 miles away from Austin, you can pretty much guess which one this is) only requires you send in a letter explaining any extenuating circumstances that would render you unable to serve on a jury (and it could very well be as simple as "I absolutely cannot take that amount of time off work") right when you get your jury summons in the mail, and you don't have to deal with them for what seems like a great while. I have yet to get the call (they do it by property rolls I think, and I only just recently purchased my first house), but I know my parents both did the "writing letters" thing when they were called and neither of them were even required to show up at the courthouse because of their letters. Thank God, because not only is it such a huge waste of time, the parking situation at the courthouse is a nightmare since it's located downtown and downtown parking is best attempted if you've the patience of Job and nerves of steel.
