Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

<br>How on earth did this get taken for "Heartbeat" anyway? That doesn't even have the word "stay" anywhere in it. The closest is "Maybe he wants you but all he can say is, 'I'm gay.'" At least that's what it sounds like he's saying. Well, whatever, it's probably funnier than what the lyrics really are. Granted, 95% of the lyrics are just the chorus repeated over and over again.

"Miracle" is the better track, by the way. Not that that's saying much. But at least it has its moments.

Yeah. You got yours yet? Have you listened to it? Bah, it's not very good. I'd completely write it off into the "waste of money" category, but I kinda like "Miracle."

No, haven't gotten it yet...nice to know it'll be yet another piece of shit. If we ever figure out who it is, I won't be able to afford a copy.

Heh. I definitely don't think you're going to like "Heartbeat." It's practically fusion. Although like our mystery song, it does sound like somebody mastered the vocals at too slow a speed. Come to think of it, all the White & Torch stuff sounds like that.

I do still hold out hope that "Stay" was a major-label release. At least then, even if I'm not the one to solve it (and I'm not going to be), I still stand a chance of getting my own copy. A D.I.Y. with a print run of a few hundred? Fuhgedaboutit.

Speaking of those, an acquaintance of mine back in L.A. found a copy of League of Nation's "Music for the New Depression" at an estate sale the weekend before last. Me being a nice guy, instead of taking it off his hands for a buck, told him how many rich people want that thing. Darn these scruples. Did you bid on the David Sinfield single that was on ePay last week? 'Cause the dude who sold you that record with groove burn sure did!

Three copies of the League Of Nations lp went on eBay in just the last week...average price about $450.00 U.S. per copy.

I did see the David Sinfield record, but I thought he was the one selling it. Either way, the euros love the guy, no question about it...but for them a record is M- if it is in one piece. Two or more pieces still qualify it as EXC+.

I had a very rare record that got heat damaged (not sure where I got it) that I held onto for filler purposes...then, miraculously I see a mint condition one on GEMM for about $20.00. I snap it up in a heartbeat. About that time, I mentioned I had 2 copies of this on the minimal synth site and get asked if I would sell one. I could have raked the guy for huge money, but I told him that it was badly heat damaged and although it played through no problem it wasn't worth anything. He STILL wanted to buy it for $100.00.

I told him if he paid the postage to Greece and I'd give it to him. After he received it he sent me a short note saying it played great...he must have been either deaf or so thrilled just to have a copy he couldn't contain himself.

Go figure.

Maybe he's bought from lps_mailorder_wisconsin. That con man sells heat damaged records which are absolutely UNplayable, does so knowingly, and then blows you off and/or plays dumb when you contact him about it. Clearly, some people don't want repeat customers. The Euros sure seem to love that guy, too, though. Well, you know the old saying. A Euro and his money are soon parted.

We won't let the record state that I'm Irish.

Fun to read this when an American girl payed me more than 200$ for a normal copy of Duran Duran's debut album signed by four of them (signed nowadays, not then), when an American guy payed me more than 100 $ for a used ticket of Springteen's '88 "Tunnel of love" tour, when an American guy bidded to around 40 $ for an European release of Television's "Marquee Moon", a record that you found in every single record fair for a few bucks...

Euros' pride! [:D]

Weren't those items worth what you sold them for? If not, don't you feel like slime for overselling those items? Just asking.

I guess in ebay every item is worth what anyone decides to pay for it. I can't feel bad for overselling, because the starting price I put in the case of Duran Duran's record was around 20$. I can't control what happens if two people decide to go into a battle of bids and overbids. I was really really surprised of the final price it reached. But I was even more surprised when the girl who won it emailed me when received the lp, telling me that I had made her really happy and that this record was to become one of her favourite possessions forever. Happiness has no price! [;)]

The same for every thing I sell in ebay. I'm not a pòwer seller, I do it from time to time and ALWAYS at a very reasonable starting price and very low post cost. If anyone decides to increase what they want to pay, I don't think I may feel bad. What it's not that worthy for me, may be invaluable for other person.

I just wrote these examples because the message I was answering looked like saying we Europeans were stupid about paying too much for music items, and, being this just a simple generalization, I just wanted to show that this happens everywhere.

Hope it's clearer now. Only my poor English may have made you understand I was feeling pride of ripping people... Sorry about my poor english.

I can see your point regarding eBay. I thought these were private sales like the one I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Perhaps we're giving the wrong impression of what we think of European record buying habits. Truth be told, I'm probably as guilty as any European as far as overpaying for vinyl. Like you said, happiness has no price.

BTW: no need to apologize for your English skills, they are superior to many North American based board members.

Well, missunderstanding solved now, so we can leave this thread open for resolving the mistery song. I guess people will have had some extra heartbeats when seen new messages here... just to find it was only us arguing about buying habits.[:I]

About paying too much, I guess all of us are guilty sometimes. If there's a record you want, and you can, sometimes is stupid not buying it for a dozen of $ more. What is important is that you do it consciously, I mean, you may be overpaying, but if you know you are doing it, then you won't feel that stupid...

BTW, thanks for the nice words about my English. I'll congratulate my mom for good education given to me... [:)] Anyway, words may be easy to write, but sometimes is difficult to translate the mood you want to show...
