I'm making a compilation of reggae infused New Wave / Post Punk. Does anyone have any suggestions? So far I have:

- Big Audio Dynamite
- English Beat
- Monyaka
- UB40
- General Public
- Fine Young Cannibals

The Police, though not "reggae", would fit in nicely with reggae-infused beats.

Joe Jackson's "Beat Crazy" might fit nicely. I think Graham Parker had a couple of early 80's tunes with a touch of reggae influence...will have to dig around to see if I can find them.

I'm not sure this fits with what you are looking for but I'll post it on the off chance you find it amusing. This was sent to me by "Ronnie Wibbley" (not his real name, nor were any band members brothers) and after he sent it, he seemed quite concerned that I might find a bunch of white guys from the U.K. doing reggae a bit odd, and the subject matter to be insulting. I can honestly tell you I have no idea what the song is about.

Anyway, give it a listen.

Apologies in advance for the quality...seems it was taken from an old 4 track recording.

Certainly some of these groups were never classified as NW but they were definitely embraced by the NW listening audience as evidenced by their frequent airplay on WLIR back in the day.[8D]
