Blade Runner: The Final Cut - October!

Interesting that the Blade Runner Complete Collecotrs Edition and Ultimate Collectors Edition are already #s 4 and 6 on Amazon's best-selling Blu-Ray list even before launch, based on pre-orders. Can't wait to fire up the Blu-Ray for these!

I've seen the voiceover version so many times before the Director's Cut came out that it's difficult to accept a new version. It's like accepting Lucas's new versions. Mind you, I've only seen the Director's Cut maybe twice.

I prefer the voiceover version as well. Made it come across more like an old Philip Marlowe novel. Without it, it's just Harrison Ford bumbling through one fight after another.

I wonder if that's one of Ridley Scott's points though. Ford's is arguably the least interesting character out of all the replicants - the one who's supposedly human. The whole story is driven by Rutger Hauer and the other replicants. Probably why Ford hated the movie.

Strange that one has to wait 26 years to finally get to own the original soundtrack to ones favorite film[:(!] And still with this new release the MAIN TITTLE THEME is NOT included! Since when is a "main tittle" theme not included on movie soundtracks??? I guess this doesn't happen to other less significant movies.

Haven't gotten to watching the Final Cut yet, but the Workprint was okay, which is essentially the Theatrical, minus voiceover. After watching the Theatrical again, there's really not that many voiceovers. I'm surprised that there's been such as huff about either versions.

- US briefcase = limited to 103000
- CA briefcase = limited to 10000

Both are the same, except for the numbered sticker.

Dude, check it again. I think you'll notice a lot more differences...

- very different underscore soundtracks (background chatter, etc)
- lots of differences in main soundtrack as well
- no Holden eye shots
- you hear the Ink Spots "If I Didn't Care"
- lots of different shots in the noodle bar
- sound of children in Rachel's photo is much louder in this mix
- no Vangelis soundtrack to Deckard playing the piano, just the piano itself
- Rachel's piano playing is also more elaborate
- you see hockey-masked dancing girls from a high street shot
- different announcement to Zhora's snake act
- "I wanter more life Father" rather than "Fucker"
- longer take of Sebastian cowering after Roy kills Tyrell
- fill-in soundtrack from Planet of the Apes when Deckard is at the Bradbury
- you fully see Roy breaking Deckards fingers (fake hand)
- Gaff's spinner rises into the final shots from below the building (vs above)
- Deckard's only narration is here and it's totally different
- plus dozens of other differences.

Yeah, I meant more as a general 'feel' of the movie, rather than the hardcore fan differences ... although the lack of Vangelis score in the second half of the movie does make a big difference.

Ever since first seeing the workprint at the Nuart I thought the roughness of it made it the superior cut...didn't you think so Blir?

Anyway it was nice to see the Inkspots song back in the film. I remember they used it in the original trailer way back then and was disappointed when it didn't make it into the final film. It belonged in the movie every bit as much as the Bradbury.
