Agent Orange in ABQ!

Postby KYYX4ever » Sat Dec 08, 2007 6:34 am

Old-school punk here in Albuquerque last Thursday! "Early show" (started at 8), all ages, small club, and they were tight. Even though it was a weeknight, I wouldn't have missed this one as Agent Orange were/are in my Top 5 punk bands ever. It helped that it was earlier than usual.
Anyway, great show. The guys were stripped down, no frills, playing a set of hard and fast 2 minute songs, and sounded tight and wound up. They started off their set with my fave AO song, "Living in Darkness"! After a couple more tunes from Bloodstains (oddly, they did not play "Bloodstains" itself), they powered thru some newer stuff for most of the show. Mingled in was a fun surf-y version of "Secret Agent Man". They finished up with "Too Young to Die" and "The Last Goodbye". I looked at their set list, and it seemed like they cut things short.
It was kind of a bummer b/c there weren't a lot of people there. A few of us were right up in front of the stage (I ALWAYS stand right in front of the stage; that's how I roll.) I suspect that we were all about the same age and probably old fans. Then, all the kids play-moshing behind us, being silly. Hanging way back were a ring of young punky girls. I secretly laugh inside when I see these young punk kids dressed like we used to dress--that whole "I did it first" sentiment, I confess--but they are just kids and bravo to them.
Now they are: Mike Palm (original singer), Dusty Watson (Drums), & Perry Giordano (Bass). I think the bassist is fairly new, but they all sounded great together.

Anyway, my camera's light settings were all whacked out, but I'm posting these two blurred-in-a-cool-graphics-art kind of way pix because I love the way they look:

Great Angie! It has to have been a full 25 years since I saw them 'behind the Orange curtain'.
