Regifting

Just curious if anyone is planning or have done regifting of previously received presents for this Christmas.

I did it once in the mid 80,s and got away it.I,m a t-shirt guy and I used to get these fancey button up shirts from mom,mominlaw and the wife for years until afew laid unopened on a closet shelf.My sisters husband got one for christmas one year and wore it often,none the wiser and yes I would do it again.

I've been hanging on to a gift from two years ago that I've been waiting to re-gift. I think I might give it back to my mom this year. She'll never know what happened.

I regifted most of the crap that me and my wife got at our engagement. Who the hell uses that micassa shit anyway? OOOOOOOH how nice! A crystal picture frame! I'll put it with the other 50 we got.

Regift it or Garage Sale it. I have no problem with it.

I donate them (and take the tax write-off). I'd be afraid I wouldn't remember who gave me which tchotchke and accidentally regift to the original giver.

I don't like giving or getting gifts. I'm extremely picky and would rather just choose things for myself In the past I've tried to persuade the family to skip the gift giving and just have a nice meal, but no such luck. Of course, doing lists would be way too easy for my family. Instead, it's a big game of prove-how-much-you-love-me-by-correctly-guessing-which-sweater-I'd-like.

I think we do it every year... never opened the merchandise boxes if we are not going to use the gifts. The perfect re-gift, especially, when you forgot someone... Re-gifting, it's not just for "Fruitcakes" anymore!

I don't mind giving, but I hate getting gifts. If someone feels like they have to get me something for Christmas or my birthday, I'd be perfectly happy with gift cards or money. I appreciate the thought and time put into someone's selection for me, but I'd just rather be able to get things I want and will use. I feel sort of bad for even admitting this. [:I]

we seem to re-gift candles every year. Candles and picture frames. both are the height of lame-ass gifts.

In the Summer of '92 a buddy gave me a leather-bound day planner to show his appreciation for me being in his wedding party. This thing was only slightly smaller than a 3-ring binder. I travelled quite a bit for my job & did not need extra poundage while on the road. It sat in my home/office for two years.
I decided it would make a perfect gift for my recent college grad sister, so I shipped it to her for Christmas in 1994.
Imagine my embarrassment when she called to tell me the calendar pages were two years old!![:I]
I don't think I've regifted since.

I do it all the time, as long as the give and reciever aren't in the same circle.

We got a wedding gift that had a little card inside that said "Congratulations Bill and Cindy".

I'm not Bill and Mrs. scramjet isn't Cindy.
