New Wave Books

Can anyone recommend any good books about New Wave?

Not New Wave but a pretty good book set in the 80's is "American Psycho" by Brett Easton Ellis, the guy who wrote "Less Than Zero."

There are 2 or three chapters in the midst of all the gore where the main character waxes intellectual about some 80's bands, Huey Lewis, Genesis, Whitney Houston .

There is a scene where He freaks out at an INXS concert though [;)]

I know the old Bomp! Records site used to have a good bibliography section covering various musical genres, including New Wave music (and since this board is being a total pain in the ass re: linking said page, I'll list it at the bottom of this message), so you might want to go over there and scan the list of books listed therein, Google some of the more interesting-sounding titles, and hopefully find yourself with a satisfying collection of NW books.

I read this book some time ago. I can remember some 80's artist were mentioned there. Thanks anyway!

I have "The Trouser Press Guide To New Wave Records" copyright 1983.

I also have "This Ain't No Disco". This is a book of new wave album covers.

Pretty good book, and the 80's one from them is good too.

I enjoyed [i]Rip It Up And Start Again[/i] by Simon Reynolds. It deals primarily with the early years, or what purists will call the only years of "new wave" - 1979 - 1984 or so, but it is a fascinating read.
