I really hate the shakey camera movement. I was so put off with those Blair Witch Project and Open Water dizzy camera movements. Even Bourne Supremency gave me a headache because the camera was shaking too much, good movie though.

argh!!!! I just watched this movie and thought the exact same thing; cool movie though, but that stuff is hard to watch!

The trick is to have 2 people shake your chair. It balances out the camera movement and the movie looks normal.

They'd have to be shaking 'n sync. I'd rather flee Godzilla than be anywhere near those guys. Unless they were being chased by Godzilla, too. Then that'd be funny.

<p align="justify">This movie was the worst piece of shit I've ever seen. It makes me appreciative of other movies I've deemed as "one of the worst" because this ranks as THE worst (of the thousands of movies I have seen).

I absolutely cannot wait to see this movie! I might even drag my sorry ass out to an actual theatre to see it. I just want to wait for it to die down a little.

I never go to the movies - I think the last time was The Others a few years ago.

[/quote]I heard the review on NPR of Cloverfield, and he said it was like the Blair Witch Project for the whole movie with the hand held shaky camera.

THe last two movies I saw in the Theatre were Ice Age (2002) and Kicking and Screaming (2005) - I use to go to the movies a lot, but I prefer to watch at home on dvd, no kids bothering me and you can pause the movie to go back if you missed a line here or there... plus the bonus material is nice.

I'm psyched by it because it's simply mindless, escapsit fun, and I love apocalyptic movies. I especially like them if they're done without the magical thinking and overblown heroics of Independence Day or Day After Tomorrow. This looks like "smash, run, scream, get eaten." Right up my alley.

Besides, I loved the Blair Witch - so I suppose there's no accounting for my taste...

<p align="justify">As a crazy movie fanatic, I completely understand the love for escapist cinema. In fact, I'd consider [i]The Blair Witch Project[/i] genial from its marketing props (which harken back to old Grindhouse movie gimmicks) all the way to the actual movie. This movie is no [i]Blair Witch[/i] by any stretch of the imagination. It is just empty wasted time. The first thought that came to mind after seeing this movie was if the director, screenwriters, editor, and producers had actually seen this movie, or if this movie even have a cinematographer to begin with - because it lacked style, it lacked direction, it lacked script, it lacked editing. It was just pieces of shit strung together smeared onto the screen. This movie will make you appreciate the true escapist cinema of Michael Bay. It will make you appreciate whatever effort it took to make the worst movies you have seen because after you've seen [i]Clodfield[/i] you will truly know rock-bottom. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know anything could be this low in terms of quality. I am still aghast a day after seeing this cinematic diarrhea.

[/quote]My wife and myself were drawn in by the hype last night. Ugh what a turd. A steadicam would have made it somewhat more watchable. Do yourself a favor and stay away. My wife commented we should have seen Alvin And The Chimpmunks instead.
