OK, big movie weekend:
National Treasure - Book of Secrets - It was so-so. I just couldn't buy the intellectual intuitive leaps being made by the Nicholas Cage character. I suppose they were supposed to be Holmsian. Plus I was totally distracted by whatever weird thing was happening with Cage's hair. It's like it never moved, or something. Hard to describe.

Labyrinth - David Bowie meets Jim Henson. Classic stuff! I could totally buy Bowie as the King of the Goblins much better than Nicolas Cage's intuitive leaps. [:D]

Rescue Dawn - Excellent. Christian Bale as escaping POW in Laos. Great survivial movie. Another good movie of that genre is Touching the Void: replace leeches and Vietcong with subzero temperatures and failing faculties (and add broken leg to boot, no pun intended).

We Are Marshall - Also excellent. Based on true-life story of Marshall University's recovery from loss of its entire 1970 football team (including staff and fans). Great acting (and authentic 70's wardrobe).

Stardust - im quite dissapointed. If it wasnt for De Niro, i would not have watch this movie.

One of the last movies I saw was by him is called [i]The Living Dead Girl[/i]. I think he also directed [i]Night Of The Hunted[/i], starring Brigitte Lahaie (pr0n model/actress)[}:)]

Loved the third [i]Bourne[/i]. I'm not really an action fan, but these Bourne movies are awesome, edge-of-the-seat goodies.

Last night was [i]Ocean's Thirteen[/i]. I liked it, but it was so cluttered with so many gadgets and excuses to show how cool the guys were, it was almost too much. BUT--ALL my favourite older hot actors together in one movie--Al Pacino, Andy Garcia, and Clooney. That's hot.

[i]Erik the Viking[/i] was good for some silliness reminiscent of Monty Python.

Yeah! I lent my Story of Ricky to a guy at work and have yet to see it. Hey, you should watch Old Boy! Sounds like it might be your type of flick. Has one of the best fight scenes i've ever seen.

I first saw this sometime around 1981-82. Scared the crap out of me. Still does. Think it's a classic, personally -- one that's never been rivalled.

Saw National Treasure 2 Book Of Secrets a couple days ago and I liked it. Just finished the dvd Balls Of Fury, it might be the lamest movie I've seen in a while. Fortunately it's through Netflix and I didn't buy it.

Watched the Criterion edition of Goddard's "Breathless" on Friday. Hadn't seen it since college. Quite a good film and the commentary on the bonus disc was really interesting.

On Saturday, watched "The Detective Story" with Kirk Douglas on Turner Classics. That was a great great movie. Followed that with "The Woman in White", also on TCM. It was billed as a creepy ghost story/mystery. But it wasn't. What is was: too long and too dull.

Me want to see [i]Sweeney Todd[/i] now. Literally, NOW. Unfortunately all the local movie theaters are closed. Bah. Maybe tomorrow? Nah, want to see [i]Atonement[/i] first, even though it contributes to my personal guilt factor re: the whole unfair thing about Parminder Nagra only being able to score a role on an ensemble TV drama while Keira Knightley gets all the starring Hollywood roles now. But hot damn does [i]Atonement[/i] look good.

Also, just got confirmation from my Johnny Cash-adoring friend that [i]Walk Hard[/i] is totally fine by him, so will definitely have to see about renting it once it comes out on DVD.
