FWIW: I think 95% of ALL music today.....is shit!!!! I'm glad I don't like anything current(with a few exceptions). You couldn't pay me enough to buy some of/listen to the utter GARBAGE I've heard out there.

FWIW: I think 95% of ALL music today.....is shit!!!! I'm glad I don't like anything current(with a few exceptions). You couldn't pay me enough to buy some of/listen to the utter GARBAGE I've heard out there.

well, my offer is for free and I'm willing to bet the 167 songs fall into the 5% category, or better yet, you weren't exposed to it! What do you have to lose???
This is the exact point I'm trying to make. Have you heard all of today's music? (Maybe you have). Maybe the masses are just listening in the wrong places (Radio perhaps?) Maybe you'll think 95% of all the stuff I have on there sucks. That would be pretty cool though to get turned on to 8,9 or 10 new bands, wouldn't it?

I guess it depends on what kind of genre/ music you like. Akin to Blir's recent post about "boring-white-guy-guitar-music", I ([i]in my very humble opinion[/i]) think that that music has played itself out.
When Franz Ferdinand, the Killers, & Interpol first came out, it was exciting and sounded very FRESH. I also enjoyed first songs by VHS or Beta, Pet, the Caesars, and maybe TV on the Radio. But then all these other bands came out after that, perhaps jumping on the bandwagon, and it all started to sound very derivative. Unfortunately, by the time these guys came out with their 2nd & 3rd offerings, it all sounded the same and "we'd heard it before".
That's just me, though.
Because I think very cool music exists in the electro world. Damn! This past year or so, I've totally gotten into

The Juan MacLean
Jem
Princess Superstar
all electronica stuff that I think is very FRESH, very cool, very slinky, just good new music that I think doesn't suck.

Boy, for a website called the New Wave Outpost there sure is a lot of new music discussion! And that's a good thing [8D]
I've always been a little schizophrenic with my music, always jumping from electronica to guitar based bands. The past few years, I've totally been turned on to a whole lot of new ones in both categories (especially more in the guitar based category) mostly because of this community. Radio sucks @$$ but that doesn't mean that there isn't good new music to be found.
Coop, I'd love it if you shot an e-mail out to me with that list! Blir is always really good with such lists but I'd love to see your take. BTW Blir, the Cinematics totally fueled my workout at the gym today. Thanks! Other recommendations of yours I've been jamming to lately include Bloc Party's Weekend In The City, The Shout Out Louds' Our Ill Wills and The Mary Onettes self titled release which is nothing short of incredible in my very humble opinion. Three very solid albums. Oh yeah, and the new BSP is awesome. I can't wait to see them a third time.
KYYX if you haven't sampled them yet, see if you can get a hold of Junior Boys' So This Is Goodbye album. I think it's totally up your alley. Great, passionate, sophisticated and laid back electronica.
