Because of Bush the U.S mainstream has strayed and become so unrecognizably different. I watch the debates and I see most of the candidates as all talk. They say they've strayed from Bush policy but, In reality they will stay the Bush coarse in just about everything. Fox news media will make sure the mainstream all think alike and dare not stray from the collective mainstream mind frame. By the way, Didn't you vote for Bush?...Twice? Who is you candidate this time?

Regardless, I'm inclined to think this agency will be 100-fold leaner and less prone to thuggery and intimidation tactics. Who says radical change can't be a good thing? Sorry, but I can't get warm and fuzzy about the IRS -- it's not like I'd be losing an old friend or anything.

Though I like some of what Ron Paul says, I don't believe we will have any presidential candidates worth anything come November. Being a registered Independent, I would love to see an Independent, Libertarian, any other party running besides the same old tired Republican or Democrat.

It is not my position to defend the practices of the IRS, but to point out the shifting of tax collection from one place to another (from individual taxpayers to check-out counters and businesses across the country). It seems potentially rash to dismantle the current tax system at a time when the government is awash in debt and the economy is sliding into a recession. Revenue shortfalls in any new scheme will need to be smoothed out by program cuts or higher taxes.

Finally, we should bear in mind that there's certainly a chance that a national sales tax might get added, but for various reasons the old tax system never fully goes away. Anything can happen.
