No, no, no. XXX is right! It has, sadly, become old news. No one is being apathetic, but no one is surprised either. So many young Hollywood stars (or, in some cases, wannabes, though Ledger has credentials and is not a wannabe) have crashed way too young. I guess there's a certain feeling of invincibility that comes with having so much so soon. As too many have tragically learned, it's just a feeling.

One guy dies and the world gets so upset...but millions die in Africa and it is not as important. That says volumes.

Not the whole world ... in fact, I'd say I care equally about Heath Ledger and the people in Africa. Not at all.

Edit: Actually, that's not entirely true. At least there have been some good starvation jokes. I haven't heard any about Ledger yet. [:(]

<p align="justify">I reserve my compassion for those whom I know and love and care about in my life. Otherwise, every interaction I have with them will be indiscrimate and meaningless. I'm 100% sure heath ledger, his family, and friends aren't exactly pining for a complete stranger's sympathy, and I don't think they'd feel insulted to know there are people out there who don't feel anything about this incident.

Heh, let's talk about the war our country's fighting right now. No disrespect to Ledger - he was a very fine actor. But let's put it in perspective. To be fair though, there is a certain fascination with the whys and hows when you see someone who pretty much has it all go and throw it all away. I just saw Gus van Sant's Last Days. There seems to be a slight similarity with the whole child separation thing.

You're the one who doesn't get it. You apparently lack the ability to apply any perspective to a situation. So the guy was an actor with what looked to be a bright future. Frankly, his passing doesn't affect me in the least, and if it's proven that his death was through his own stupidity (or arrogance), the concern for his passing should stop at his family. He doesn't warrant the media attention simpletons like you seem to feel he's worthy of. On the upside, it seems you'll now have more time to devote to sharing in Britney's current strife.

Your knee jerk, media driven overreaction to the situation speaks volumes about your lack of intellectual prowess.

I wish I had said that...nicely put, except there were no superfluous insults thrown in to make it more in keeping with my thought processes.

But what if Heath Ledger were African? He could have been living a secret life...

Good point...The Heath Ledgers and the people of Africa may not be two mutually exclusive groups.

By the way...which one is Mary Kate, the one who eats or the anorexic one who used to date Lance Armstrong and was last seen with him on a bicycle built for 1 1/4?

What does Jack Nicholson’s portrayal of the Joker have that Heath Ledger’s doesn’t?

A chance for a sequel.
