Super Bowl commercials

Is it me or are these the weakest Super Bowl ads in a long time? Going into halftime not much in the way of stand outs.

I thought the Pepsi Max one with Haddaway's "What Is Love" was pretty hilarious.

I thought the Fed Ex courier pigeon ad was the best of the 1st half. Otherwise, a rather lame set so far.

So far, so lame. There have been a lot of uncreative ripoffs so far (of The Godfather, Thriller, Rocky ...). The only ads I've liked are the Planters cashew one with the ugly girl and the Doritos mouse trap one.

Is anyone else noticing that Fox is using snippets of Arcade Fire's "No Cars Go" as they go to breaks? May I suggest British Sea Power's "Waving Flags" as well?? [:o)]

The Amp fat guy with the jumper cables on his nips was good.

The Doritos rat commercial was featuring a song from "Kissing Le Fish" of Michel Moers of Telex fame. Sudo operatic with a synth bight at the end.

Very weak overall lineup of commercials but the Bud Light ad with the cavemen was great. "The wheel sucks". "The bottle opener sucks".



We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

I thought the two e-trade baby ones were really good. In the first one, he's all rattling along about stocks, throws up, and then just keeps talking - pretty funny. Then he talks about hiring the clown in the background, commenting about not realizing how creepy it'd be - really funny.

Holy crap. [b]IF[/b] Arcade Fire is owed any money?! Are they fucking kidding? Do they know how seriously the RIAA, ASCAP, etc take this stuff? Song licensing is a billion dollar a year industry. I suspect that Pitchfork simply doesn't have a clue what it's talking about. I can't imagine a network doing this unlicensed. More power to Arcade Fire though for getting their pound of flesh, but so much for their anti-commercialistic stance if they did indeed license it out.

It was damned cool to hear though. [:p]

I liked the CARS.COM commercial where the guy had the witch doctor to use in case the deal didn't go his way ... and the guy came in to ask for the day off because he had a little head. The whole thing just struck me as funny.
