What movie did you see last night 2

Music & Lyrics - Not one I would have chosen; it was lent to me. Hugh Grant as washed-up former 80's pop icon with a chance to raise his profile again by writing a song for a bubble-brained pop-dancer-diva. Drew Barrymore as eccentric plant caretaker with gift for words. Sparks ensue.

Includes parody video of the fictional band Pop's (yes, Pop is the name of the fictional band) "hit song" named "Pop Goes My Heart". Apparently their research for this re-enactment consisted of watching a lot of Duran Duran videos.

It was a good movie, as movies go, but I'm still unsure as to whether this was an homage to 80's-style music or a mockery of it. [?] [?] [?]

"Let's Scare Jessica to Death" - pretty good low budget creepfest from 1971. Has a couple of really eerie scenes.

Children of Men, which I really liked, but don't think I ever need to see it again. Very, very bleak & depressing. I think it asks far more questions than it answers, which I liked. It stuck with me long after watching it.

I also watched something with The Rock as a football player who has to take care of his estranged daughter. Obviously I can't remember the name.... total predictable, cookie cutter formula which I get frustrated with. With that said, it wasn't the worst thing I saw & was a "cute" movie that wasted an hour or two. Didn't hate it as much as I thought I would.

I have Session 9 on the dvr. I've heard a lot about it & it sounds very cool - even if it stars David Caruso who I really dislike. Maybe I'll watch that today.

[i]The Man From Earth[/i] aka [i]Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth[/i]. Fascinating, thought-provoking sci-fi story that was poorly executed. It was from some of the same crew who have made Star Trek. This guy tells his colleagues that he's been alive and around since caveman times, as if he is immortal. Like I said, great concept, and I could see it being a Star Trek episode, but since there was no action or special effects at all, it dragged on and on...

Also saw [i]All Quiet On the Western Front[/i] (1930 version). Some of my Seniors are reading this novel. It apparently won the Oscar back then ! It was awfully good, profound....and the DVD cover stated it was one of the first anti-war movies ever made. Hmm.

I love this movie. First watched in on IFC. Just picked up the dvd last week at Borderlands Books in San Francisco (which is a great book store for horror and sci-fi, btw).

Super Bowl Sunday after the game my sister's roommate had an "academy" version of "I Am Ledgend"--Loved IT!

Also of note, I finally saw "Shaun of the Dead!" Best scene ever when they were in the backyard and gonna launch Shaun's LP and 12" Singles at the zombies, his roommate picks up New Order's "Blue Monday" and can't part with it--he tells his roommate how rare it is... fuckin' classic scene in my book!

I can't say I hated it. It was alright. I didn't love it either. But it was pretty spooky in places.

I watched The Invasion tonight, which is about the 9,000th remake of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. I really, really liked it. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The only thing I'm wondering - what kind of mom wears shear pants that you can see her thong through, and a see-thru t-shirt while making her kid breakfast...oh yeah - Nicole Kidman types of moms.

I live a couple towns over from where they filmed Session 9. In the last couple years a developer bought the property and leveled all but one building. Luxury condos are on the site now. After seeing the movie I don't know if I'd buy one.

Saw No Country for Old Men last night. Great movie ,but what's up with the ending?
