I'm trying to get my friend who runs the American Beat label to do this one. He's got a lot on his schedule, but it certainly is a possibility. He's currently working on another one of my suggestions of a cool new wave album that is well know by us, loved by some, hated by others, but has been out of print for a while. I don't want to say what it is because I don't want to "jinx" it. There should be some cool bonus tracks as well. When it become official, I'll pass on the word.

Aztec Camera's acoustic cover of Van Halen's "Jump" and John Wesley Harding's acoustic cover of "Like a Prayer" are two of my favorite B-Sides, along with all the afforementioned Jam cuts.

I remember "Aeroplane" by the Psychedelic Furs getting almost as much airplay as its A-Side, "Love My Way" on WLIR. Other B-sides that I remember getting airplay, though not new wave, were "Erotic City" by Prince and "Pink Cadillac" by Bruce Springsteen.

Seeing how Siouxsie & the Banshees were always putting out non-lp stuff on their b-sides, I was surprised to see that Siouxsie has included no new songs on the b-sides of her solo singles (just remixes). I wonder why the change of heart there?

THE CURE - 'Happy The Man' ('B' to 'The Caterpillar') is not only my favourite Cure song, it's in my all-time Top Ten.

Funny, the WLIR mention reminded me of when I was an intern there in '86/'87, I handed "Larry the Duck" Robyn Hitchcock's "Tell Me Anout Your Drugs" before he went in to tape his "Off the Boat" import show.

Larry (now on Sirius' "First Wave") played "Drugs" as the last song of the show, and it went on to come in second in the "Screamer of the
Week" polls for best new song for two weeks.

We were driving in to see Robyn and LIR's "Malibu Sue" had a live interview with him on the air. When she mentioned that LIR was playing "Drugs," Robyn said something like "Why on EARTH are you playing THAT?..."If You Were A Priest" is the single!"

I almost drove off the LIE laughing, that was priceless!
