I just found a DAMNED interesting spreadsheet from a questionnaire done here almost 3 years ago. The text of that now-archived thread went like this:
Well, here's your chance to let it all hang out. Recent discussions seem to always polarize one side versus the other. I have a feeling that most of us may be more balanced in our views on the whole. To that end, I came up with this questionnaire drawn partly from many of the topics that we've touched on in the past.
Anyone interested in bearing all and scoring these on a 1 to 5 scale? I will even score the group average, though not on an individual basis. How you may ask? Being "Pro" on some topics indicates a more classically conservative bent or vice versa - I have made a note of which questions lean which way and will flip the scoring accordingly. I will even take your answers in email and keep them private if you're too bashful to post here:
1 = Strongly Pro
2 = Pro
3 = Don’t Know/Don’t Care/Neither
4 = Con
5 = Strongly Con
We ended up with 25 participants and when the answers were tabulated, we ended up with the chart below of the averages to the questions. Closer to 1 was deemed "more conversative" and closer to 5 was deemed "more liberal":

Now, who all these members and their abbreviations were, we may never know again. [;)]
BUT, since we have so many new members and it happens to be that political sort of time again, is anybody interested in another go at this?? Just write down the number of the question below and your 1 to 5 rating next to it. Old members can choose to keep their replies or submit new ones. Plus with new clustering technology, we can go beyond just comparing averages but also correlate the members to eachother based on the patterns of all the questions - drool! [:o)]
