Paul Anka doing Duran Duran's Ordinary World HAS to be in this List of Infamy:

I don't know if it's the changing of the lyrics in the 2nd line, the obese monstrosity on bass, or the kazoo solo that pisses me off the most, but there's just no excuse for:

Maybe if they added some Cow Bell it would have been a little comedic instead of the pathetic crap I just listened to.
Oh, and I have not heard of the Jonas Bros, so I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

Someone did a cover of Video Killed The Radio Star about 10 years ago or so. That should merit serious consideration for this award!

I don't like many new wave covers, but I do like the Presidents of the U.S.A.'s rocked up version. I think that's the one you're talking about.

For a nomination for worst, the Natalie Merchant-less 10,000 Maniacs cover of "More Than This" really grates on me for some reason.

On today's show she (appropriately) railed against the following crime against humanity known as the Jonas Brother's cover of "Take On Me"

Which got me to thinking--what new (say, since the turn of the century) artist's cover of a NW song would you rank as a total waste of decibels? It might be hard to top the above.

That just SUCKS[:p]! The only place people should do covers is at Karaoke bar, so everyone can laugh at you [:o)]!

I hate this. Now, there will be a whole generation of tweens running around blathering about this "new song" by the Jonas Brothers. When my own daughter began to talk about 311's song called "Love Song," my head nearly exploded. I set her straight and made sure she had the proper version on her iPod.

We have to let our kids and their friends know that these crap covers today pale in comparison to the originals that we listen to! If we don't do it who else will???

I absolutely won't let my kids listen to or even watch the Jonas Brothers - they are nothing but Disney eye/ear candy for the tweens.

As some earlier posters mentioned, "It's My Life" by Gwen Stefani is awful. I'm not saying songs should not be covered but artists need to look at the song honestly and with some degree of realism. "It's My Life" should never be covered by anyone because it will always fall short. The emotional investment that Mark Hollis put into this song will not and cannot be duplicated and that will make any cover version of this song fall short. I hope that "Life's What You Make It" will never be covered for the same exact reason.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.
