Yup, music, pictures....everything! I had about 25 gigs of music. I think I backed up about 20 gigs so it is not a total loss but I will be hitting you all up very soon for music again. I should be up and running by the weekend. I hope you all didn't miss me too much! LOL!

Lesson here? Always back up everything weekly!

I don't keep any tunes on my internal hard drive. (I know, I know, I'm wasting 120 gig of space) I keep all my tunes on my 500 gig external hard drive....plus everything is backed up on my sons server. That doesn't mean that I'm safe cause anything at anytime could go bellyup.

I should burn everything to DVD's as a total backup but I'm far to lazy to do that.

<p align="justify">I have about 100 gigs of pr0n[}:)] I need to back this shit up, but I'm also too lazy to do it. Besides, I'm sure that once the hd blows up, I'll get another 100 gigs of pr0n over the weekend[}:)] I have almost 1 gig of music which I really should back up since that's stuff not in my cd collection. I'll probably buy two 100 gig external hds and have both save the same shit. That way, if one gets busted, I have a back up for that back up[}:)]

Yup! The pants! And a ton of insulting pictures of former members! Karma I guess. I just hope most of my music is backed up. I will totally get a cleaned up computer this week and I will back everything up from now on. But I lost a ton of great pictures.

Ugh. What a disaster. I have my photos and videos duplicated on two different hard drives and music duplicated on three different hard drives. I really should take the time to back them all onto DVD but like many others, I'm too lazy.

Oh phil...my condolences. It happened to me in December of '06 and I lost all my music - which I never backed up. It took for-freakin-ever to get it back & God only knows what I wasn't able to find.

Lots of people here offered to help me out though - I am sure they will do the same for you.

For those of you who do not back up - do it soon. I never thought it would happen to me! (I sound like a teen pregnancy advertisement!)

What a pain, happened to me twice this month. Luckily had a lot of music backed up onto a laptop and my iPod. Once I got it up and running the first time, bought a portable drive and backed everything up. So when it decided it was going to take a crap a week later, I didn't lose anything when I had to reformat. Wish I had done it earlier though. I still haven't taken complete inventory to see exactly all I've lost.[:(]

Holy Criznap!

Well, I got the crash bug as well. My primary external music HD just died. Or at least I think it did. After being gone on biz, I see my computer opened to a bunch of the kids' web pages and my hard drive spinning up then spinning down, spinning up then spinning down...dead...as may be the kids soon. I think I'm backed up to about 3 weeks ago so it's not tragic, but...

...ALWAYS BACK UP!!!

I'm splurging now on a redudant RAID1 mirroring unit...the music's too valuable to me. Fucking expensive though. [:(!]

I am up and running! The tech guys just left my house and I am good to go. Now hopefully this weekend I will get back to all my old places to go on the internet and I will be happy. Blir is so right. Back up every week and use 2 externals when possible. The music is worth it. I was lucky and only lost about 5 gigs.

You seem to be moving from hard drive crashes to vinyl crashes, I hope I don't follow suit, that could be real expensive.
