I watched most of the outdoor game. (took a little nap in between periods) I would have LOVED to have been there, even though the seats were pretty far away from the ice.

I thought that was great. I even think I could see the puck a little better than a normal game.

A local sportscaster like to emphasize the lighting, and he's right. Having seen some of the highlights from the game, it was very bright at the stadium.

The outdoor game is a brilliant idea and NHL cities will line up to host one.Good job Buffalo even though you didn,t win.Did I mention I hate the Senatards.

I managed to abuse my position and get row 1, center ice tickets to the Canucks game tonight v. St. Louis. I'm taking my son, his first live NHL experience. Now if only we had a hockey team...

Cover his ears. If it's behind the players bench it will be an experience [:)]. We took our son to his 1st game and sat behind the players bench. That weekend during his tyke game, he was swearing up a storm on his bench . Just like the pros.

O.K., we're in the home stretch now! [:p]

One more week (and three more games for most teams) of the extended pre-season and then the real season can begin. And it still even looks like winter in my neck of the woods (although it is melting fast, so they better hurry).

I went back and had a look at the comments I made in December, nailed Pittsburgh, Anaheim & San Jose rising, was a little off on Buffalo (should have seen the Brian Campbell situation coming) and Chicago (injuries), and we'll see at the end of the week where Calgary ends up in the west.

Didn't see how fast & hard the Sens would fall. Right now they have first round exit written all over them, IF they don't finish out the tank and end up out of the playoffs altogether.

Overall (except for the Sens "defensive" zone coverage raising my blood pressure and resulting in my daughters learning new words)it has been a darned good season for the NHL. To me it looks like the overiding theme is the continued development of parity (the bad teams this year are not as bad as the bad teams last year, the good ones not as dominate).

It will be interesting to see how the trend toward tying younger players to (very) long term contracts plays out. With the better players tied up, it looks like it will be very difficult for anybody to follow the Flyer's guide to a quick turnaround. There is just not that pool of premium free agents (restricted & unrestricted) to dip into.

At a media level, interesting how many of the members of the media are crying because there haven't been enough trades this year are the same ones who three to four years ago were saying that the lack of player tenure with a team was breaking the bond between fan & team since nobody knew who they were cheering for.

Well, enough rambling. Let's get this week out of the way and let the playoffs begin!

Yeah, playoffs is a dirty word in Vancouver. For some reason I'm going to the game tonight. Maybe there will be some good fights. It has been a brutally disappointing season here. The only thing that could be worse would be if I was a Leafs fan.

LOL...lots of sad faces here, but then it's been that way since about Oct. 2007. Stupid Leaf fans, will they ever learn?

The Bruins are in ,but probably not for long, if last nights game is any indication. Yikes , it only took two minutes and they were toast.

In fact, Islanders fans root for The Devils in the playoffs when we're not there which is pretty often. In fact, mathematical elimination is one of the first signs of Spring every year on Long Island.
