Archuleta

Whats the fascination with this kid? He sucks and looks like he's in constant agony when he sings!! And that butchering of "Imagine" weeks ago still makes me ill thinking about it!!!!

He irritates the shit out of me. I am not convinced that he's such a great vocalist either - everything sounds the same and he plays the same tricks every song.

I think the little girls understand though...

I was a Carly Smithson man so I haven't been too engaged since she was booted.

He has the dumbest facial expressions when he sings. I can't stand him.

I'm a David Cook girl. Loved his version of Billie Jean.

If tween girls had any taste in music, Fall Out Boy and Chris Brown wouldn't be multi-platinum, now would they? Although I'd be lying if I said anybody who made it to the Top 6 this year was all that great. Syscreecha gets the "most improved" award. That's about it.

I wasn't a Carly Shitson man... and we were both born in Northern Ireland, so that should really tell you something.

Smithson - zero charisma. It's probably why she failed as a pro back then and as an 'amateur' now.

Archuleta - yeah he's insufferable, but he's a fucking prototype of what Idol fans like. If you're a fan of Idol and knock Archuleta, you may have a dissociative personality disorder.

Cook - he's a fucking dork. End of story. I know 5 guys singing at Arlene's Grocery on the lower east side better than him.

Syeesha - who? I didn't even know she was ever on the show!

a boyband singer with no taste in music whatsoever.

That's probably the most accurate assessment I've heard. He does have a good voice but he is destined to be someone's puppet his entire career, if he does, indeed, have one. You could see his dad pulling the strings even while he was on stage.

Like him or not, David Cook can sing and he will make it. I have to agree with Marie. Whether you like the music or not, Billie Jean was really a phenomenal performance.

Wasn't David Cooks Billie Jean a cover of some grunge artists cover? I don't like him anyways - he looks like he's spent most of his life lying face down in an alley.

I think the problem with Archuleta is that he is sooo young & sheltered. He does not know what the songs are about & can't connect to them - there's nothing there but him doing vocal acrobatics (which aren't that good anyways.) I recall his comment about not knowing "Another Day in Paradise" was a sad song.

I think I liked Carly Smithson because she seemed pretty genuine and reminded me a lot of Laura Branigan. (Although I wasn't much of a Branigan fan.) Like Laura she had a pretty good voice, but never seemed particularly connected to a song, was too much of a musical chameleon and little on-stage personality.

All in all, I think this season has been boring with the exception of Jason Castro early on - too bad he fell apart.

I also liked Carly Smithson a lot.
Her voice was great. She just seemed to pick really bad songs.

*Forgot to add:

You are right Wolverine, Chris Cornell does the same version of Billie Jean.

Was anyone watching about two months ago when Michael Johns was performing "Don't You Forget About Me" and Randy Jackson thought he was singing an INXS song?

Awesome.

I don't care much for Archuleta. To me , everything he sing sounds the same. I'd like to see David Cook win it all.

I had no idea who any of these people were so I hit up youtube. The Archuleta guy is horrible. I watched him massacre Robbie Williams' "Angel" and then John Lennon's "Imagine". He sucked ... in fact, he wasn't even better than Lennon.

I agree with Blir about Smithson. Just ... plain ... boring.

I didn't look for Syeesha. I don't need to see her to know I'd dislike her.

Cook was OK. The lesser of all evils. My money's on him.

You are braver than I am. I hate "American Idol" -- I can't even begin to express how much I hate it.

Yes...my wife watches the show religiously to the point where she does the vote thing after the show. She picked up on that and showed me. Yo...way to go, dog.
