In Memory of......on cars????

Maybe it is just me, but why the hell do people put these "In Memeory....." stickers on their cars?????? I just don't get it. Were they killed/died in that car?

Good question. I've always wondered about the basis for this custom. In my area it seems especially prevalent among the Native American and Samoan communities. Just one more thing this white girl doesn't get.

Anyone?

I think it's beyond tacky. It's almost like the "baby on board" idiots are just now reaching the age where their loved ones are dying off.

We've got it worse around here. One of our local "outdoor advertising" companies has taken to memorializing the dead on billboards. I think the owners of the company just put them up for people they want to "honor". I'm not sure they've picked up any paying customers for this service. Since I think billboards are irredeemably tacky and ugly I certainly wouldn't want to be remembered that way.

What about those *brilliant* (rolls eyes) decals on cars that show figurines for all the family members ? I've read more than a few warnings saying that those are a great way for potential predators to get a nice tip. Whether or not that's true, it still perplexes me why people would want to advertise how many family members they have, their names, and their status.

I imagine it'd take a limo just to display all the 17 kids's stickers this proud Arkansas mom has popped out:
(The article is from last year, but this woman was just in the news recently again) :

LMAO!
motors, I've seen that pic somewhere. Can you believe that kind of mentality ? I don't understand it. Imagine how much all these rugrats are going to be spending on gas when they get old enough to drive and gas is like, $13,000/ gal.[:p]

That's if there's even any fuel left by the then. It's disgusting that anyone would be that selfish and irresponsible. I also have to wonder how at this point, how can he still be banging her?
