They certainly have that sorta NY noise/no wave sound, maybe more-so than any other UK group. Well, maybe Clock DVA too.

I was never sure what post-punk was. I assume that the first round with the Ramones, Wayne County, Television, Miami's and Patti Smith are punk? But then again Blondie were around in that 1974ish era so wouldn't they also be lumped in with the originals?

Many others in US, and some great ones from Canada as well...
These bands all had a darker, brooding sound that to me were the US sound of post-punk that was similar in vein to post punk artists like Joy Division, Comsat Angels, etc.......for me anyway, what I think of as post-punk sound. I know this can easily be different from one person to another.

As I look at our lists, I wonder if post punk is more a UK oriented label. For exemple, the bands that countercircular mentioned (Joy Division, Comsat Angels, etc.)? It seems like what we called college radio or alternative rock in the US is an extension of what the Brits were calling post punk.
