That's awesome !!! I've always thought vinyl sounded better.
One of our local music stores sells new LP's,but at $15 to $18
which is sad cause they sell the cd version of the albums cheaper
at $12.,so which format is that kid gonna buy??
The cd of course cause it's cheaper,but hopefully they'll lower the
price of their new release vinyl.

I'm something of an audiophile and put a lot of time into buying my components and putting them together. That being said, I have yet to hear this sonic superiority of LPs over CDs. Of course I haven't done a direct listening comparison and perhaps I should. I've read and heard that the dynamic range is sometimes better on LPs, and so are the upper frequencies (they tend to be sweeter, less shrill or metallic). I have found CDs though to be much more dynamic and the bass... yow. Noticeably stronger. And I believe that the bass of a CD is actually separated better between the left and right channels than on LPs.

Nevertheless, because I *believe* there's a difference (as better ears than mine have said that there is), because I do plan to do some careful listening tests of my own, because a lot of the stuff I want is out of print, and because it's just plain cheaper to buy a used LP rather than a $17.00 CD, I purchased a decent low-end turntable (a Pro-ject Xpression MkII) and a Pro-ject phono preamp which is used, in part, to digitize my LPs on my Mac via a USB cable.

Vinyl *should* be alive and well. It's a solid format that has its own strengths. If you've got the patience to perform the necessary care and cleaning of this electro-mechanical device, it will serve you well (never mind that it looks cool with the right lighting).

I think it's going to. This seems to be catching a bit of fire. There's a shop out in Monrovia, CA (Brooks Berdan) that specializes in analog. They even have a record-making machine that still works. The Sound Factor, with at least 3 locations in L.A. County also has some TTs. Sound & Vision (a sham of a magazine if I do say so) did have an article on this apparent resurgence (one would think that these geniuses would have known this long before that recent issue of their mag).

So I don't think this is disappearing any time soon.
