Old Tapes-Vintage LIR

About 'kiss me once, kiss me twice'...
I looked at my handwritten playlist on the cassette box. Unfortunately it shows "???" for that one. No name or title. I word-searched on "WLIR-CumulativePlaylist-1982to199x.doc" but I had no luck there either.
I searched for "once", "twice", "sure", "kiss", and "tease". No dice...sorry.

BTW. Thanks for posting the Fast-Food-Drive-Thru bit. Believe it or not, Rush Limbaugh played it on his show about two weeks ago. That was a rarity. I always loved that Double Cheeseburger, Onion Rings and a Large Orange.......

The next challenge:
Who has the funny clip "I'm Misable", by Ray D'Ariano? Of all the LIR radio tapping that I did, I never got that one.
"I'm misable, right? But I have a rights to be...."

That's "History Of A Kiss" by Gabi Delgado. He was one half of D.A.F.

Vintage LIR-Volume#16 (from 1987)

It's another LIR tape from my collection.
THIS IS THE LAST ONE FROM ELTON SPITZER'S LIR.
Everytime I play it, it brings a tear to my eye.
This one has a sad ending.

Wow, I just finished listening to this and I remember where I was when the station went off the air. I was at work at the credit union with Reillygirl. It must have been a Thursday or Friday because that was our late night at work. My boss had let me bring in a radio and I was able to play LIR if I kept the volume down. (WLIR was not a station to have on at the bank cashing old ladies checks)
Long Island radio was never the same after this.

Yep, Thursday was our 6 PM close, I thought it was a Thursday.
I even remembered the swing music coming on the air. It was surreal at the time.

Also, I had forgotten about Joan Jetts WLIR Dare Mix of Road Runner. Great to hear it again. [:D]

I'll never forget listening (by chance) to those last few minutes on my car stereo in utter disbelief and dismay (I had no idea at the time this was really going down).

I remember it like it were yesterday. I worked for Chase Manhattan Bank in Garden City (not far from the radio station). I was in my car in the parking lot and just listened. I, too, was shocked at what I had just heard. I didn't know it was coming. I listened the whole trip home to the "filler" music, the swing to which Marie3 referred. I was hoping that it was a very late "April Fool's Day" joke. I almost expected the station to come back on my way home. I'm still waiting.

hey thanks for posting these. I know what it's like to love and miss a great radio station. It reminds me a lot of my old faves in Seattle during this same time period: cool eclectic selection of music (of course), random movie bits, quirky djs, and DIY-atmospheric cred. I am enjoying these !
