Minty...most of this thread was good, harmless fun. It's okay to poke fun at people and we were just feeding off Philly's reaction. Of course, it didn't end that way. Wonder why?
Oh yeah...some people took this way too seriously and jumped to Celine Dion's defense like she was their blood relative and initiated personal attacks on members of the board.
Here's a suggestion and I mean this in a pleasant, constructive way. Roll with the humor or move on to the next thread. Not every thread will please you or me or anyone else. There are plenty of topics here that will.

Also, you state that Minty and I have taken this triviality too seriously when in my opinion, it was just as easy for other members to let us share our thoughts on this matter without ridicule. Wouldn't you agree?

Okay...to be fair, you didn't fire the opening salvo but you weren't carrying an olive branch either, were you? The sarcastic tone in several of your responses didn't help, did it? Re-read some of your responses towards Rotator, Philly and Djcraig.
Trust me, I'm not picking on you. If and when I do, you'll know it.
Let's face reality. Almost no one here is going to stand next to you while you defend Celine Dion. This just isn't the place for that. If you expected that, I'm sorry. It's just not going to happen. Don't feel bad for Celine Dion. I don't think she's a frequent reader of this board.
Again, my best advice for anyone who doesn't like the way a particular thread is going is to move on to a different topic. It's that simple.

I beg to differ club80. Not only have I not been sarcastic, I've gone out of my way to ignore posted items that under normal circumstances I would have taken issue with. You seem to be playing the role of apologist for others, and while a laudable act, does nothing to address the root problem here.

I suppose I've stepped on toes by pointing out behavior that is not in keeping with an adult discussion board where thoughts, ideas and music should be exchanged, not insults. Your comment "Let's face reality. Almost no one here is going to stand next to you while you defend Celine Dion." highlights why this thread has degenerated to where it is now - I don't need to have people stand with me on this or any other matter, but I am entitled to expect that my opinion be met with intelligent counterpoint and not merely ridicule.
