The Cure-MSG--Tonight!

Post past and present concert & album reviews and interviews.

Alright, my big question about MSG was: what the f@ck with turning up the house lights btwn *every* song?! After a while, they just stayed on dimly thru the set?! At a CURE show!!

Yes, 65 Days of Static opened. Missed them both nights. (Damn family/responsibility - on Sat, I had Gymboree for my 2 year old, a 2-year old bday party for my daughter's friend, and a cousin's daughter's grad party in CT. My old bones can't keep up.)

Anyway, Radio City was amazing for some key reasons: the venue (totally suited to the Cure), less pop/singles (tho it does make for a more pumped crowd when they hits are played vs the several hundred aging goths wanting to hear Faith), and Robert scaling the box seat sections on bothe stage right and stage left to the first mezzanine while singing.

Not to mention Doing the Unstuck (!), the Hanging Garden (!!), A Forest (!!!) and Catch (!!!!)

Re: the question about no synths/keys - yeah it was weird, but somehow it mostly worked. (Well, not on the opening to A Forest, but mostly.)

Was in row JJ, about 10the row center. Bruce Willis was a few rows ahead of me in FF. Maybe he's a 'Die Hard' Cure fan. [;)]

*dies from envy* Lucky bastards!

The closest they came to Vegas was L.A., and I couldn't make the trip because of work obligations. [:(]

I was happy to see the hour of the MSG concert on FUSE. I *love* "Underneath the Stars." In fact, I'm liking the songs they've been releasing on the 13th of each month. I was worried--their last album was terrible, and then they dumped Perry and Roger ... But so far, so good!
