Okay, well then that's a project to add to my list. It will not happen over night, but I'll start that in the near future. I'm also doing some studying (I'm out of work right now so I'm taking advantage of the time to expand my skill set) and digitizing my LPs, breaking them into tracks, etc. But I'd like to organize these recordings so that we can jump around from song to song.

What I'll need Mot is the name of every song and band in order, if you could provide those. Otherwise I'll label a song I don't know as "Track #".

Completed first mix. Has 36 tracks. Some of them are kind of arbitrary, as it wasn't always clear cut whether to save a track as a bumper or as part of a song. But I made my judgment calls and hopefully anyone who wants a piece of Motnow's '1983 01' mix broken up into tracks will be happy with what I did. (I needed to cut off the last track, U2's "Two Hearts...", because the entire list wouldn't fit on a single CD -- although that might not matter if all you want are a series of .MP3s. Right now they're full-rez AIFFs, but saving them as .MP3s shouldn't affect quality too much if anyone prefers that format.)

There were several songs whose names or creators I did not know, so I just named them "Unnamed Track ##". Bumpers and station IDs were just called "Bumper ##".

I'll get to the second tape in maybe a week or so. Depends on whether or not I find work and what ever else drops onto my plate that has to take priority. But God willing I will get to it.

Thanks motnow.

Can anyone identify the song on the WLIR 1983 01 tape that comes after Elvis Costello and the Scuba diving joke? It is at about 22 minutes into the tape and the women is singing "All we have is prominence" Madness, "Our House" follows the song.

Oh... no one had commented when I said I got the first "tape" broken up. I was waiting for someone to say something! Okay... uhh... I don't know how to post this stuff. I'm open to suggestions.

As for the song you're looking to identify, the first several tracks I could not identify and were named "Unnamed Track ##". Sorry. I've asked Motnow to provide that information, but evidently he/she is not certain his/herself?

Sorry about that WLIRRIP...I have a list that I made up but it's not 100% thorough. I have little confidence in the song titles and band names. Basically, without a DJ announcing it, I WAG'ed it. When I find the list, I'll post it.

As far as making MP3's (or any other file type) available for us to download, here's what you do....
1. Go to http://www.zshare.net/
(BTW, there are other websites that provide the same service, e.g. SendSpace and YouSendIt.)
2. Select 'Browse" and navigate to your mp3 file that you want to upload.
3. Select 'Share It'.
4. After a few minutes, your screen will refresh and it will show a link. This is the link to download your file. Copy and paste this link in your message.

Here's the song list for tapes 1 thru 16....

Like I said before, I't not perfect. I guessed many of them. Also, ignore the numbering; I haven't had a chance to clean it up.

Once again, motnow, I can't thank you enough for providing us with this excellent remembrance of a great radio station!!!!!

Marie...I will listen to tape#1 when I get home tonight to see if I can identify that song

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Thanks club80.

I was hoping Rewind would have identified it.

Was 8,9,10, and 11 posted? I didn't get them.
