Just wait until they play NYC[^]

I'm usually very defensive about NY crowds - especially on the DM boards I frequent. And having seen DM in both LA and NY, I don't really notice a huge difference.

But I will be amazed if the NY crowd can top the LA crowd for Yaz. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but it was truly insane in LA. Voracious.

At least I know a few NWO'ers will be insanely into it! [:)]

I know there's no dancing in the Beacon Theatre, but there is no way that once the music starts that my butt is going to stay in the seat.
What's the management going to do, make me and another 2,000 people sit down ? Once I hear "Didn't I Bring Your Love Down" I'll be dancing all over the place !

Exsqueeze me? I don't recall a no dancing policy at The Beacon. Hopefully there's no douches who complain about people standing.

Of all the reunion stuff going on this one
seems to be hot topic. For a duo that only
produced two albums and has not performed in 25 years
is a testament to how widespread their appeal and new wave music in general was to our generation. EVERYBODY is talking about it.
It it so gratifying to see that is very much alive.

Just out of curiosity, who is going to the Terminal 5 show tomorrow night? I don’t know about all of you, but I am totally looking forward to the show. I got my tix back when they went on sale and have been counting down the days since. "Here I come Alison..." [:D]

*raises hand*

How's about a pre-show meetup? I know it's general admission so ppl are gonna want to get there early. Especially with the reportedly sucky sound.

Jake's Saloon on 57th and 10th work for people? http://www.jakessaloonnyc.com/jakes57street.html Still a couple of blocks.

Also a place on 57th & 11th, though I can't speak for it. Take Five:

THURSDAY AFTER PARTY WITH YAZ (or so it claims) But the site says it's just an official afterparty, no mention of Yaz. So not sure. http://hiroballroom.com/

Yaz will be at Hiro Ballroom this Thursday July 17th
Hiro Ballroom: 371 W16th St. at 9th Ave
Doors 10pm. 21+ w/I.D.

Somewhat related note:

7/24 Martin Gore (Depeche) is DJ'ing at Hiro.

I plan to get to the Terminal 5 at least an hour before doors open. I have never been to the Terminal 5 myself but the reviews don't make it sound like a very appealing place. Not to mention it's standing room only and general admission is usually the pits. Hopefully it won't be as bad as I am anticipating it to be. If I get the opportunity to meet either Alison or Vince I will be one happy camper. Tomorrow night will tell all [;)]

At last Thursday's LA show Yaz was introduced by Richard Blade. He said that the show was being recorded and would be broadcast on his Sirius Radio show in about a week. So if you have Sirius....

Having seen Depeche Mode (with Vince) in 1981 on their Speak & Spell tour, it was at Perkins Palace in Pasadena which also had a no dancing policy (at one stupid point--this concerst). Everyone got up and danced their asses off anyways, so the management pulled the plug/electricity on the band, but D.M. refused to come back on stage until managegment reversed themselves.

Besides a mini riot was breaking out and folks were starting to rip the theatre seats out...

Saw many concerts at that venue: Icehouse, OMD, The Jam, and Ultravox to name a few I can remember, and there was never a dance ban at any of those shows.

Oh...forgot the email also said: "I'll be at the door .... mention Malibu/Molly's and I'll take care of you....see you there."

So I guess if you want to go to the Yaz after party, mention "Malibu/Molly's".

I'm up for either of these just on location alone. What's up with Take Five/Tasos? They both have the same address? Either way, both places are a block away from eachother as well as Terminal 5 so might be good choices.

If people are interested in a bit more upscale, there's a Mediterranean place called Taboon just a bit further down on 10th:

How a vote in this thread? I'm leaning Take Five/Tasos.
