<br>Jake's Saloon on 57th and 10th work for people? http://www.jakessaloonnyc.com/jakes57street.html Still a couple of blocks.

Also a place on 57th & 11th, though I can't speak for it. Take Five:

I'm up for either of these just on location alone. What's up with Take Five/Tasos? They both have the same address? Either way, both places are a block away from eachother as well as Terminal 5 so might be good choices.

If people are interested in a bit more upscale, there's a Mediterranean place called Taboon just a bit further down on 10th:

How a vote in this thread? I'm leaning Take Five/Tasos.

I'm down with Take Five. Can try to check it out tonight for those going tomorrow. Blir - which night are you going again?

Too bad we likely won't get this one tonight. [:p]

DJ Ed, Myself and Goody are going Thursday. We were planning on eating somewhere in Times Square, more to choose from incase we could not get in right away we could go to another place. But closer to the venue would be better. If you had a place in mind that was definite we would love to join you guys. I was thinking somewhere close to the venue may be hard to seat us, may need reservations.

How 'bout if ebbhead can see if Take Five looks alright and takes reservations. It could potentially be the 3 from the FA party, 2 from my party, ebbhead, maybe Schwenko, maybe 2 from the BigBri party. Yes? No? Anyone else? You wouldn't be an outsider since most all of us haven't even met eachother!

The only explanation I can come up with is the Beatles must be opening.

Holy Cow there is a ton of hype!

Wish I was in NY going with you guys! Have fun!

As of right now, put me down for 2 for the pre-show meetup. What time are people looking at? I know the door open at 7pm. I see there is a DJ opener.

DJWave says she's free pretty early. I can definitely get together by 5 as well. If you're in early, we could, um, let's see....drink!

Just called the venue. DJ Alex English opening tonight. I believe he's one of the regular DJs at Hiro Ballroom. Expect a healthy heap of new wave/indie, I'm betting.

That means that it's probably like LA. Doors 7, DJ set in earnest at 8, Yaz shortly after 9. But I'm assuming getting there toward 8 is smart just in case they take the stage early.

Will report back about Thursday's show in the AM, if not on the way home via Blackberry. [:p]

Will do so tonight. Per Blir's email, it's either:

Take Five - a bar: http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3718596296

or

Tasos - Greek place: http://www.clubplanet.com/Venues/141706/New-York/Tasos

Since they both share the same address. Odd.

Saw the Chicago show on Monday.

The light and video show was amazing.

Allison's voice was in good form.
She looked happy to be there.

Vince didn't do much - it seemed like he wasn't even playing on half the tunes. I do synth proramming and the like for a living, and have played keys in some bands - Vince may as well have been using that laptop in front of him to check his MySpace for all of his minimal participation in the show.

So it was like Alison singing Yazoo karaoke!

It was hilarious when they did "I Before E...", and Vince basically wheeled a tape machine onto the stage, pushed play, and then left. The lights and video kept going, with just a tape machine on stage.

A sort of intermission, I guess, but also an underlining of my point above: the music was mostly pre-recorded, and the only truly live music were Alison's vocals, a few vocoder-synth backing vocal bits from Vince, and the occasional doodling on a little 2-octave MIDI Controller that Vince had below his laptop. He couldn't even be bothered to play the main leads or melodies or even the main chords in any given tune.
On a few songs he basically just stood there staring at his screen. I guess he was reading messages from Andy Bell, wondering when Erasure would be getting back together?

The crowd were totally into it though, and everyone seemed to have a good time.

DO NOT go to Take Five. It is Tasos or whatever and basically a Greek Diner. And not a single person was in there.

There was a bar next door called J Mac that was either an old teamster bar or old gay Irish man bar. Not sure.

At Jake's Saloon on 57th and 10th now. There's food but Shwenko's vegan diet will *not* be accommodated here. But it's 2 blocks so...

I recommend the seasoned fries with dipping sauces and the tortilla chips with guac, salsa and sour cream. [:)]

Jake's is my vote for a pre-show mtg.

Ok, just left the show. Well, on the way home anyway.

Great show! Awful venue. Just shit. But the sound wasn't as bad as I'd expected from the reviews. Was pretty decent where I was standing actually.
Cool moments: completely re-worked I Before E from the LA shows, which were themselves reworked with some drum n bass elements. This was a total house makeover. Not sure I liked it, though I loved that it was different from what I'd already seen.

And I don't want to spoil it for tomorrow, but the crowd did the coolest thing during Only You. Big props to whoever thought of it!

Crowd was crazy, but different vibe from LA. We'll see after the Beacon if I think LA outdid NY. Unfair based on the venue size - smaller in NY by about half (more?) than LA.

Anyway. DJ only played until 830. So Yaz were done by shortly past 10. Good for sleeping. Bad if you got to the venue assuming they'd go on at 9ish. (It was more like 830).

Guess that determines some of the meetup timing - people probably want to leave by 8 at the latest to get there - though if you want to be close to the stage, meetup may not be your friend...unless you're pushy.

Good times. Tomorrow should be even more fun! [:)]
