2?!!!

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7vItiMW7jGg&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7vItiMW7jGg&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Disney seems to have kept this under wraps quite well. Could be amazing with updated technology. 2011 though, jeezus.

My kids loved the 1st one. Me eh. Kinda cheesy but what do you expect from Disney. I'll wait and see about #2.

Sadly it's unlikely to happen as the last news to come from the project was that it was stuck in development hell and that was a few years ago. The website that was set up for it now redirects back to Disney.com.

Still, it's good to see they're having a second go at a sequel, let's hope it's better than the first.

Funny, I just recently saw the original again. All those rad colors set against black backgrounds seem to be made for the widescreen, high res screens of today. It would be very cool if this project were to ever see the light of day.

The two-DVD set comes highly recommended as the extras are amongst some of the best I've seen on DVD. Very informative, very interesting and gives you a great insight on the movie's progression to completion.

Missed the video! No longer available. [:(]

Tron is one of my childhood faves. [8D]

Didnt the first one bomb in the US? Unlike Blade Runner, I dont think the cult following for Tron was ever that big. The new Tron trailer looked cool but still rather too simple. At least it would serve as a great backbone for the Ghost in the Shell live action flick

Granted, the first wasn't as successful as hoped but was noted at the time as a radical change of direction for Disney as at the time they were known for safe family movies. The reason for its failure was seen for its reliance of style of substance and the acting (Kurt aside). In my view the film's fine for the occasional viewing but it doesn't stand up for repeated. The best thing about the DVD re-release are the extras - by the far the best I've ever seen for any DVD.

Daft Punk scoring the new film.

Supposedly they cameo in the film too:

This may or not be a leaked track. I sure wish all these <a href="http://www.citiesoftheplain.net/2010/01/new-daft-punk_7961.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+citiesoftheplain+(Cities+of+the+Plain)">gossip mongers</a> would get their stories straight:

Thanks for the link Marv. It doesn't sound like Daft Punk at all and is going to be interesting to see how the tracks fit into the film. Wonder why Wendy Carlos isn't involved as her tracks made the first film.

That's true! I would have totally loved to hear her take on it. Phil, I'll call you in the next couple of days. Just running around doing kid stuff this weekend.
