Praying mantises are SOOOO cool, I love those things.
Ladybugs are also very cool.

I like bugs that eat other bugs (pests) in the garden. When I find a praying mantis or a ladybug, I will carry it over to my garden and plant it there.

I am fascinated by cicadas. I love their sound in the trees at sunset.

The Mantis for me. We used to catch'em as kids and throw other insect in there with them and watched them strike and eat.

Secondarily for me would be the katydid. After that, either the grasshopper/locust or the field cricket.

Yeah, I love lightning bugs also but I see them quite alot. I heard that it was the praying mantises that were on the verge of extinction. For years I would see them in front of my house inhabiting this one bush. There was a nest of them. Now this is the third year in a row they haven't been around [:(]
