DM to tour this year?

Apparently so, according to Yahoo. Must mean they have a new disc coming?(hopefully, I really liked "Playing The Angel". Anyways, take a looksy(down @ the bottom):

AC/DC to kick off world tour in Oct.

ANAHEIM, California (Billboard) - AC/DC will embark on an 18-month world tour in October, the hard rock band's first since 2000/2001, their agent said Monday.



Rob Light, managing partner at Creative Artists Agency, made the announcement during a panel at the Intl. Assn. of Assembly Managers' conference and trade show.

Light didn't reveal further details about the trek, which will promote the Anglo-Australian band's upcoming album, a Wal-Mart exclusive. A single is expected to hit radio in August. AC/DC released its last album, "Stiff Upper Lip," in 2000, and launched a yearlong tour of 17 countries.

In addition to AC/DC, other acts touring in the near future include Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Depeche Mode, Shakira, Green Day, Kid Rock, Usher, Robin Williams, Mylie Cyrus, Slipknot, John Mayer, Keith Urban, and Tim McGraw, according to Light.

There was some speculation that they'd start the next tour in Israel since they had to cancel the Tel Aviv show from the last tour after the mortar attacks from Lebanon. So early shows in Greece and Bulgaria make sense.

I guess the big question is this: Will North America warrant a full tour for DM next time around. They probably make a lot of their money touring here - tix in Eastern Europe are generally a lot less - though I guess we'll see what they Euro/Dollar exchange rate does for that.

So we could get a mini tour a la New Order's last one, or Yaz(oo)'s tour. My money on their next tour is probably NY, LA, SF, DC, Chicago, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Toronto and Montreal. Maybe Atlanta and/or Boston. Probably a Vegas and maybe an AC show since those have become big options for them since the casinos pay big money for aging music fans to come and spend lots of cash in their casinos now... So they could fit those in right before the European shows start in May. Maybe a 4 week tour here in April. Either that or we'd see a tour in the Fall here.

Having just seen Yaz perform all their hits from the early eighties, I would really favor a Depeche tour showcasing tunes from the same time frame. Ice Machine, Photographic, Dreaming of Me, Leave In Silence, See You, et. al. But they'd have to be in their original incarnations, not any souped up newer mixes. Well, maybe one or two [:I]

Actually, Marv, sitting behind Martin Gore who was throughly enjoying Yaz live, I was thinking how f#cking amazing it would be to see DM with Yaz open on the next tour.

They did Photographic on the PTA tour, as well as Leave in Silence (Martin acoustic) and JCGE on some of the dates, so they seem to be open to exploring their early music after more than a few tours of disregarding it.

So we could possibly see some more from Speak & Spell and/or A Broken Frame. But I'm most excited about the rumors that they rehearsed Lie to Me on the last tour. (I could die happy if they did.) Plus on the re-mastered SGR dvd short, Dave especially seemed pleased with it. And I think Fletch said he really liked fan-fave The Sun & The Rainfall (end of ABF). That'd be great, even if there are others I'd rather see first.

Give me Shout, Get the Balance Right and Lie to Me and the highly unlikely And Then... and I'd seriously need to be carried out of the venue.

Yeah, I remember Photographic on the PTA tour but if memory serves, it was a newfangled instrumentation. Gore acoustic numbers are always a treat but again, the album versions would be a major time warp if they were played in some sort of retro tour. To be honest, I've had enough live JCGE for the rest of my life but I guess it would be mandatory on a retro tour. But for Pete's sake play it somewhere in the middle and give us a new final encore.

Actually it was pretty much the original Some Bizarre compilation version of Photographic from before their Mute days. So even more vintage.

And for the record, JCGE on the radio - no thanks. But live, there's few songs that get the crowd as pumped. I'm for it showing up over and over. Guilty pleasure. [;)]

Great to hear DM are coming out with a new album and another Tour, Didn't get to see them during PTA tour..I won't miss this one! I like the Idea DM playin' ode to there 80's sound like See you, Master and servants, Dreaming of me, New life etc.. they should play older stuff like what Journey (sorry guys love this band) had been doin' playin' there old dirty dozen.
