crazy storms spawns a water spout on LI

Postby rewindmylife » Fri Aug 08, 2008 1:53 am

OK so I'm sitting at my desk at work in Melville, Long Island yesterday around 1pm when the sky got dark and the heavens opened up and dumped a massive amount of hail, rain & wind...it was so bad that we all actually ran to the windows like little kids seeing the first snow of the season! The rain was so intense, we couldn't see the cars in the parking lot. We've had a couple of bad storms in the past week or so.....and they say there's no global warming!!!

Turns out the same storm went a bit north and out formed a water spout over Huntington Bay. My friend is Harbor Master there and took a picture of it.....of course I can't figure out how to post the picture.....damn you JPG!!!!

Can someone explain how to post pics? I tried copying and pasting but it won't let me.....

It was crazy! Of course I was driving my son to a friends house and I was caught in the storm. Funny, my husband said it never even rained at our house on the other side of town!

rewindmylife, I use photobucket to post pictures.

You know...throw in Gilligan and The Skipper and this looks like the introduction of a three hour tour...a three hour tour.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Yeah, the weather's been strange this summer. We had marble sized hail a couple weeks ago. WTF.....

I was in Breezy point when they hit. The sky went black with huge clouds. I drove right home and made it in time.

Yeah, this morning 1010 WINS mentioned we'd be getting something. Dude, you could start a 1010 WINS weather thread here on NWO [:D]

We got it alright. For the second time in a month, my building took a lightning strike and it knocked out the cable modem. Both times, I heard a pop in the I.T. closet and poof...no more internet! They replaced the router and modem last time at no cost. I hope they still feel that generous when they arrive tomorrow morning!

Someone came into the office and told us about this incredible rainbow outside. One of my people had a digital camera at work and I sent her outside to get some pictures. When she emails them to me, I'll share. They (and I do mean "they". There were two rainbows!) were spectacular.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

By the way, I did not know the storm was coming. Instead of looking at the current weather forecast on the internet, I was too busy trying to find more pictures of Zill's weather girl on the internet. It's Zill's fault, I tell you!

It would have been funny if you told the girl about the incredible rainbow, she went outside to take a picture, then just as she walked out the door she is lifted away by the storm winds. Then everyone else says they will wait to go outside.

LOL!
That is precisely why I sent an expendible member of my team outside!

Right now, my area in Suffolk County is under a tornado warning. Unlike the beautiful picture of the rainbow one of my people caught on camera last Friday, I am not hoping NOT to be able to share a first hand photo of it with you.
Gotta go...someone just flew past my window.
