Ok, I get it. Kerri Walsh and Misty May are practically nekkid. When they win a big victory, they pounce on one another like lesbian vampires. I understand the appeal of that. But after a point I have to ask: Do we really need to watch EVERY f***ing match of Kerri and Misty, to the exclusion of 30 other sports out there? Contrast this with a real sport like wrestling, which gets ZERO broadcast coverage, probably because the image of two sweaty guys rolling around isn't the nation's preferred flavor of homo-eroticism.
Based on the TV coverage one might think that there are only 4 olympic sports in existence: Gymnastics, Swimming, Synchronized Diving and Beach Volleyball. Naturally there are personal-interest montages for the key players in each of these events.
Also: Synchronized Diving! WTF?!?!? Is 'synchronization' the required evolutionary path of boring olympic events? What's next, synchronized boxing? I won't be satisfied until we have teams synchronized weightlifters on horseback like a scene in a Dr. Seuss book.
