Found this guy in the house last night

To be safe, you've got to kill all squirrels on sight. They might have rabies (or might contract it)! Specially them flyin' squirrels. I wear a neck brace and carry a shotgun with me at all times.

That's a different strategy. Traditionally, you would kick a squirrel in the nuts.

My kids always laugh when they tell the story of how I punched a squirrel. He was ripping my garden up every day. Then one day he does it but just walks over to a tree and sits there. I start yelling at him but he never moves. I walk right up to him and POW!

It depends. I was stung once by a scorpion about the size of a quarter. I had to go to the emergency room and felt like crap for over a week, but reportedly I'm still alive.

The last reported death by scorpion in AZ was about 40 years ago. The smaller ones are more 'dangerous' because the poison is more concentrated. Doesn't mean I'm looking forward to a big guy stinging me! Scorpions can apparently control how much venom they release when they strike. They're dossile creatures, and blind as shit. They don't attack, they run away (sometimes fast). As my friend found out a few years ago, they dissolve completely in a glass of liquid chlorine (takes about 3 days, what a way to die).

My house gets scorpions during the summer, but I live right by a desert mountain, so I'm asking for it. Houses can be 'scorpion-proofed', I'm just not quite there yet. I hate 'em with a passion. from the underside, they remind me of the baby parasites in Alien. I have two rows of glue boards by the back doors, so nothing can sneak in without getting permanently stuck. It's been a pretty light summer for scorpions this year. I usually find them in the pool trap (dead and bloated, of course). If they ever get inside, I can actually kill them effectively with a fly swatter.

I haven't taken a black light into the backyard yet, where I have almost 40 trees (including several palms). I'm afraid the yard will light up like Xmas if I turn on a black light! I'd rather not know how many are out there. If they stay out of the house, that's good enough for me. I've been in this house for two years, and never been stung. I had one or two close calls (pretty sure one crawled across my leg on the couch one night..had the lights off watching a movie!).

WTF? Yesterday I found a dead bat on the table on the back patio.
After realizing that most bats can't kill you (except Vampire bats, which if I am correct, turn you into vampires if they bite you), I carried him around and scared all the kids and my wife by saying "Guess what I've got in my hand?" and then quickly tossing it at them. First bat I've ever "captured" since I've lived here and have only seen a few around ever. It's like Coop's Wild Kingdom around here.

Last night the dogs were going ballistic at 2am went outside and they had a SKUNK pinned in the corner! 1st one I've ever seen and before I could get them away, major spray that stunk to high heaven. They were yelping like mad and barking. I tried getting them in the house, my wife was freaking out about them coming in all smelly and if they were hurt, etc. Loads of fun bathing your dogs in the middle of the night and trying to chase the skunk out.

So let's recap for this year so far:
Snake
Scorpions
Coyotes
Bat
Skunk

You'd think I live in no man's land. I'm guessing bigfoot is next.

P.S. - I didn't kill the skunk, heard they aren't too good a eatin'

Skunks are a daily thing here, give them a wide berth and you'll be O.K.

Skunks are a daily thing here too. Yesterday morning around 5 I was
out on my back steps smoking and caught a flash of white out of the
corner of my eye. It was a skunk crawling under my fence, about 3
feet away. He then crawled under the bottom step that I was
standing on and came out the other end and cruised along the
foundation of my house.
He knew I was there...he wasn't afraid...I hate him so.

Coop - a mixture of peroxide, baking soda and dish soap does an
incredible job on dogs to get rid of the skunk smell. Trust me, I
used it on mine a few years ago & left no trace of it.

exactly what we used after reading up on it on the internet, although we didn't have enough peroxide. The dogs both jumped in the pool as soon as it happened so they weren't too bad. I took them to the groomers yesterday and they are much better now.
