Stay (The Second Time Around) [Solved]

Postby Retro_NRG » Mon Jul 07, 2008 7:44 am

This one is definitely an enigma of the highest order.[B)][?][B)]

It would be great if somehow this story could get a Yahoo buzz posting.
Perhaps then.. just perhaps.. ((LOL)) it may garner enough attention to get ID'd.

Has anyone recently tried to contact with Rene, who originally posted this song on his site ? I have sent few messages, but can't reach him.

All i want to know is where he takes name "Stean Lemroy" [?] (on his site)
Maybe anyone know another e-mail or can contact through this address to ask this question...

On his site,he was marked few songs with [?] (and suspected artist name) and finally these names were right, such as "Panther (Panther Rex-Come Over tonight) and something else i don't remember right now...

This is a most interesting mystery. I've read from the first to last page here, listened to the song excerpt (cleaned it up too, which you will find below) and, like many before me, can't identify the group. BUT, I'm going to agree that it is White and Torch. Why, you ask? Compare the voices of the male singer in White and Torch's excellent song "Who's Asking You?" to the mystery tune. Sounds like the same guy to me. If it's not W&T, then it's freakin' close.

BTW, would those of you that have shared MP3s in the past please fix your download links so those of us, like myself, can get them and enjoy. I would like to hear those tunes and add them to my massive 80s song archive. Thanks.

[/quote]Roy White and Jaq (members of the band White & Torch) already confirmed on 11/13/07 (on page 8 of this thread) that the song "Stay (The Second Time Around)" was not recorded by the band White & Torch.

Thank you for cleaning up the file.

I added the "Stay (The Second Time Around)" youtube video to my myspace profile, not that I get too many visitors:

Well, even if it was confirmed, the male vocal still sounds like Roy White.

10,660 views in one year since I posted the video to youtube (8/25/07),

that's not bad, except we still don't have an answer to the mystery.

Not bad for a no-name, music-only video clip...

Two things Dan:

1) Hook your video up to my You Tube account (PowerPopFan) and add the "Second Time Arond" video clip to my video of The Promise by When In Rome, I've had over 150,000 hits in the past 10 months; maybe that will get it out there some more. Any other NWO members want to do the same???

2) Are you going to compile a list of what songs/artists have been guessed??? This can help folks with not having to read 9 pages of threads... Just a thought. [:D]

I found this 12" single on eBay and it looks interesting enough.

http://cgi.ebay.com/12-Italo-Disco-STAG ... dZViewItem

Anyone want to take a chance on this? I e-mailed the seller asking for a sound clip but have not heard back from him yet. If no one wants to risk it, I will buy it.

Why ask them for a sound clip? Just ask them to confirm if their record is the same as our clip -- less energy from everyone that way -- if it is the same, the record will sell to someone here, if not, then someone else will purchase the record (there is one bid at the moment).
