88 Minutes. Awful, just horrendously awful. Kept hoping the dude would actually get killed in less than 88 minutes so the show would end.
I really hate movies that are supposed to take place in one city but are filmed in a different city. This was Vancouver in the film, not Seattle, folks. Not as bad as Vancouver substituting as NY in Jackie Chan's "Rumble in the Bronx" I suppose (I didn't know there were such lovely mountains in the Bronx).

Pineapple Express! I fuckin loved this movie. But if you never smoked pot you are at a disadvantage. Very cool and lots of funny action.

Guess what, last night I finally saw [i]The Crying Game[/i]. Even though I knew about "the surprise", it still packed a punch. I loved this movie ! The dialogue was terrific, and the depth shown by some of the characters was amazing. It really just turned into a transsexual love story, but I was transfixed. Consider that in 1992, this wasn't such a common thing to portray this lifestyle.
I am a big fan of Forest Whitaker, so it was a treat to see him in an early role.

^ I know !^[:D] It takes me forever to get around to seeing some movies. Living overseas for the 1/2 half of the 90s, and then not having a TV for the 2nd half didn't help. There's a lot of great stuff to still be uncovered. I promise to stop being so geeky about it[:)]

Saw "Burn After Reading" last night. The best movie I've seen since "No Country..." and "Charlie Wilson's War". Actual human characters with idiosyncrasies and flaws that drew me in and made me want to know more about them! Had a real dark edge ala "American Beauty".

Ensemble cast featuring Malkovich, Pitt and Clooney.

Such a great actor. I recently saw him in the Last King of Scotland.

Not necessarily a movie but last night I finally finished watching my two seasons of the Brasilian television program City of Men. I really liked the directorial style and the shots of the exotic Rio ghettos. Very different from anything around here. But what ultimately drew me in was the exposure of innocence and youth amidst such dismal urban decay.

300. I love the way it looked but in high def, I actually saw the makeup on the actors face...clearly. That kinda ruined it for me because I kept looking at their faces just for that.

A little insomnia last night so I fired up The Deer Hunter of all things. I mostly wanted to catch the sequences with Stanley Myers' "Cavatina" playing...

I got to thinking whatever happened to John Cazale who played Stanley in the movie (and most famously Fredo from The Godfather). I didn't know he passed away from bone cancer shortly after filming and was engaged to Meryl Streep at the time. He's credited with bringing her, De Niro and his childhood friend Al Pacino from theater to film - pretty amazing. He also has the distinction of possibly being the only actor whose every feature film was nominated for Best Picture:

Saw THE WRESTLER with Mickey Rourke[B)] and the film just blew me away!
The "ROCKY" of wrestler movies.
I see academy award nomination for Rourke.

"The Girl Most Likely..." It's a movie I remembered from my childhood, one of those Movies of the Week the networks used to run. It starred Stockard Channing as an ugly girl who gets plastic surgery & goes on a murderous rampage. It was better than I remembered & very funny.

One of my fave cult movies is on Turner Classic Movies tonight. It's a comedy/horror thing called "Spider Baby". I've got the DVR fired up.
