The Business - Drinking And Driving

Half past 5 I'm in the pub
Six O'clock it's home for grub
Eight O'clock I'm back to the bar
Sod the walk I'll take the car

[Chorus:]
Knock it back
Have another one
Drinking and driving is so much fun

In the motor off you go
Not too fast and not too slow
Keep your head and keep your cool
Must avoid that rightful pull
As you meander down the road
Don't forget your highway code
See the spot and take your pick
Out of the car to be sick!.....

[:p]

The Gymslips - Drink Problem

[Chorus:]
Whisky makes you frisky
Gin makes you sin
Brandy makes you randy
and rum makes you... ?

"I think I might be happy if I wasn't out with them
And they're happy
It's a lovely place to be
Happy that the fire is real
The barman is a she"

"Went to a party
I danced all night
I drank 16 beers
And I started up a fight

But now I am jaded
You're out of luck
I'm rolling down the stairs
Too drunk to f**k"

Backed by a killer lead riff, what could be better?

Some Black 47 Comes To Mind..[;)]

Bridie was teachin' out in Carysfort
I was workin' in the bank
2 paycheques every Friday
And a Morris Minor out the back
But I was mad for jigs and reels
Drinkin' dirty big pints of stout
When the Bank of Ireland gave me the boot
They said "Don't let the door hit your arse on the way out."
Fiddlee diddlee deidely dee
I was born to play the funky ceili

Could any drinking song be more fun than Knockbacks in Halifax by Weddings, Parties, Anything?

"Its Saturday night in Halifax,
The kids are out there dancing,
to the same old beat that's all over the world.
And in her eyes, I could have swore I saw the NORTHERN LIGHTS,
but it was the lights dancing from the disco silver ball"

(footnote, also the greatest song of all time to reference a Canadian city, I pounded back a few pints with these excellent Aussies in the late 80's in Halifax)

Yes, yes, yes!
Eat chili with it and you may even get a chorus of "Michael Booth's Talking Bum"!

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

I still love that song. I still have two 45's of this song. I thought I misplaced one a few weeks after getting it so I bought another. I still have both.

Other than just about anything off of the first couple of Pogues albums, the first few that come to mind:

Chelsea - Last drink
Teenage Head - Kissin' the carpet
Spirit of the West - The Crawl

Blondie - Here's Looking At You

As I sit staring into this liquid amber, ripples move out to the edge of the glass
Is that really your reflection in there?
I just want to jump into the warm depths and be there with you, one more time!
Oh, alright
