I must admit, I DID like her music better the FIRST time I heard it, when it was done by Grace Jones.

If you want to talk about someone who made more of an impact, there's always that two hit wonder, Samantha Fox. At least somebody actually HEARD her music. Otherwise, this thread should be relegated to the "Obscure 80s" forum.

Sure she did. Every song Toyotah charted was a Grace Jones hit. Toyotah should be paying her the royalties and thanks for making her own career possible.

As for her "extensive" acting portfolio, you got me there. Who could forget ALL those classic roles and smash hit movies... remember the year she almost stole the Oscar from Meryl Streep?

I love Jones and Toyah, I don't see any musical parallels except that with both.
the vocal style is unconventional(neither would likely win approval from the

In the majority of those credits, of which few, if any, have been seen by anyone besides Tuna's family, she plays "herself". More like "behaving" than acting.

In case nobody heard me the first time, "Thunder in the Mountains" is a TERRIBLE song. Just absofuckinglutely awful. One of the worst UK Top 5 hits of all time. I can't even listen to it. "It's a Mystery" is poor, as well. "I Want to Be Free" -- that one was actually pretty decent. Well, at least it had a memorable chorus. "Brave New World" and the B-side "Bird in Flight" I thought were a lot better than her big ones. But if spammaster extraordinaire "toyah" thinks she was going to conquer the American charts with any of these songs, he/she/it is delusional.
