$9.00 for cigarettes

Postby retrophil06 » Wed Oct 08, 2008 5:04 am

At the Wal-Mart in Bartlesville, OK, RJ Reynolds cigaretts went up to $9.00 per pack. Also, Marlboro cigarettes were to double at midnight Oct. 8. However, a couple places in Broken Arrow, OK know nothing about cigarettes going up. If this continues, most people will quit smoking of course. So, if it does, and youre a smoker, will YOU quit?

I remember buying cigs for $1.94 a pack back in '96. Those were the days.

So I paid attention to cig prices at the local ExxonMobil station while filling up yesterday at $3.39-9/10s, a whoping 10 cent a gallon drop in a day--still overpriced; the Camels were listed as $3.39 a pack and Malboro brand at $2.99 pack, plus state sales tax of 8.25%. Nowhere close to $9.

So like $9.00 a pack is like buying cigs in Canada...

I only buy smokes at the reservation, tax free. Otherwise, they're about $6 to $8.

I suppose I should quit smoking, I'll do it sooner than later - it's just not a big priority tonight.
