I've allways liked 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry" video. It was fun recognizing some of the local settings on that video. And Aimee Mann looks very pretty in it.

LOL Farfetch, that slapping to the beat on True Faith is pretty hilarious.

And Edisonoside, I swear I was noticing how great Aimee Mann looked just yesterday. That's a great video...pretty serious subject, belying it's lush dreamy sound. I think I actually prefer Aimee's brunette version toward the end of the video...very smokin'!

I can remember buying records from her in the early 80s when she worked at the original Newbury Comix. Made an indelible impression (on me).

ahhhh Newbury Comix - how I loved that store. I saw Amiee cruising around in Brookline one afternoon - I was flabergasted.

I love the end of the video when she stands up at the Opera House & shouts out the final verses - it's such a release.

Does anyone remember a parody video from Anne Magnuson? It was called Lene Hagen-Dazs and was a take off on Lene Lovich's Bird Song video? I'd would love to see that again.

Actually I liked Lene Lovich's Bird Song vid a lot now that I think of it. Wasn't she getting stalked by a crow in a graveyard? I only saw it once.

'There Was A Time' by One to One. In this video, sexy singer Louise Reny in a skin-tight leather outfit dances and sings in a mirrored elevator with a watermarked water effect on the elevator doors! So 80's. I LOVE IT!

Devo - Beautiful World
Booji Boy watches a pattern of De-Evolution on his video screen in disbelief. A bit too obvious, true, but still well-made. The best of their videos which they never topped.

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
A great performance clip that captures a mood.

David Bowie - Fashion
Ashes to Ashes was great, but to me this was more interesting.

Soft Cell - Soul Inside
A classic manic performance. Torn pictures everywhere, an attack at an "office" (A hint at the time of Phonogram's "Free Tainted Love Single" promotional debacle with "Numbers"?), Marc Almond's dramatics, smashing gold record awards, Dave Ball looking like a madman at the keyboards. Soft Cell in 1983 perfectly captured!

Talk Talk - It's My Life
Animals, Mark Hollis with scribbles on his mouth (I think tribute to Luis Bunuel or some Surreal film maker), and more animals. The video was such a stand out that for Top 40 video shows it was a total relief from the big productions that were mainly the norm at the time.

The Jam - Start
Maybe their all time best. Weller with the Pop Art guitar is clearly a memorable image.

XTC - Making Plans for Nigel
Sharp wit, a classic edgy song, and Andy Partridge acting crazed and falling on a huge prop dice.

Bow Wow Wow - C30, C60, C90 Go!
Pirates carrying Boom Boxes in time with the music plus a visit to a pressing plant...the (Post-Pistols) McLaren Manifesto in action. For all that went on in this chapter of his history, this video was one of the better moments.

Ramones - Psycho Therapy
One of the classic videos of all time. A classic song and fitting Horror imagery.

Ramones - Something to Believe In
To some, the "We Are the World" generation deserved this pie in the face by New York's finest.

Siouxsie and the Banshees - Spellbound
A great clip! One of the all-time best by this band.

Agreed about "One In A Lifetime".

One of my favorites has always been "Some People" by Belouis Some. I found it somewhere on youtube and it is the epitome of the '80s. Everybody is wearing a Swatch!

"The Safety Dance" has already been mentioned and it's maybe the best ever. Will also go with "Working Girl" by the Members and "Mexican Radio" by Wall of Voodoo.

When I intervewed Dev-o back in 1984, we discussed this video at length--they won some "film" award for it.
