I would say '87 thru '92 would accurately describe the late 80s early 90s and the albums produced in this period is what most described as their classic sound most recognizable by most fans. Boy through War would be considered their early stuff when they were still not as well known to the masses.[;)]

I read that I Fall Down is missing, because there was an apparent camera malfunction during the filming, and that Electric Co. is edited, because of the "America" and "Send In The Clowns" lyrics that Bono sang, which caused a whole legal thing back in the '80s. A friend of mine mentioned that Two Hearts may have been slightly edited, too, is this true? Regardless, I'm still buying the DVD, it's one of my favorite concerts by any band, and I've been waiting for this proper issue for years.

I love early U2, esp. some of the more obscure songs, such as Endless Deep, A Celebration, Boomerang I and II, Things To Make and Do, etc. I bought the Boy and October re-issues, and both Disc 2's are great.

Yes, tenohtwo, the edits you have heard about are correct. I didn't realize "Two Hearts..." was also edited, so I compared the DVD with my radio show recording of the original concert (The 2 lp "War Is Declared" boxset). Sure enough, the "Let's Twist Again, Like We Did Last Summer" lines are missing from Two Hearts. I assume this is a quote from the old Chubby Checker song, which they cut out for the same reason that Electric Co. was edited.

Either way, the DVD is great if you like early U2!

Just hope the mastering isn't 'brickwall loud' with zero dynamics. A lot of awesome music is ruined this way these days.

U2 have shelved a host of tracks recorded with Rick Rubin on their forthcoming 12th studio album.

Guitarist the Edge said the Irish four-piece scrapped early sessions with the renowned knob-twiddler because it did not suit the band's style of recording.

"We actually laid all that stuff to one side. Really out of deference to Rick and that set of songs we just said, 'OK, that’s that,' and we drew a line," explained the guitarist. "So none of the Rick material went into this project. Everything has been written subsequently."
He added: "He gave us great advice as much as anything. His whole thing is, 'Don’t go near the studio until you know exactly what you want to do,' which, of course, is the opposite of how we usually work."

U2 have since teamed up with long-term producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois for the record, which is slated to be called No Line On The Horizon.[/i]
