Any thoughts on the new Cure album?

I've been listening to it nonstop for two days now.

The high points are really high for me ("Underneath the Stars," which sounds like something that might have come from the "Disintegration" era, but with some almost irritating vocal effects). (Another high point would be a b-side called "Down Under." Excellent song.) "Freakshow" is a, well, freaky song, but in a good way. "The Perfect Boy" and "This. Here and Now. With You" also are good tracks. "The Only One" is poppy and fun.

Musically, I think it sounds great. I love Simon's bass work--always have--and it's nice to have Porl back. Vocally ... I don't know. I had this same thought about the vocals on the last album: either Robert Smith's voice gets worse the older he gets, or he's trying to deliberately change it. Whatever it is, it's ruining their music for me. AND THAT'S KILLING ME!!!

I'm trying to find something to like, but I'm finding too much of that "irritating vocal effect" thing going on. It's almost fucking goofy in places. I can't fucking stand it. I'm trying to find nuggets to enjoy, but then I go into a rage and start cursing Cunt Bob!
