Possible Olympic sport...

Having just watched one of these events today, I think there's room in the Olympics for a sport with some real entertainment value.

Ha! The last time I tried to parallel park was the day I got my drivers license.
We used to do something similar at Shelter Island in San Diego, just go and sit and watch the idiots loading and unloading their boats on the boat ramp. Seriously, hours of entertainment.

You gotta love the universality of the commentary. I couldn't understand a word of the language, but somehow I knew everything they were saying.

That is funny. Reminds me of my cousin who lived in Brooklyn. When he would parallel park he would just make room, pushing up the car in front of him and pushing back the car behind him. Then he would get out and be on his way. He did it all the time.

who parallel parks out here in the West ? especially around here--cars are parked so far apart, even downtown, that you can just pull in and pull out. Same all over. But NYC, now; that's another story. In my visit a few years ago, I was amazed at how closely everyone parks their cars together (out of necessity, of course). The cars were practically touching each other. here, you could parallel park, Brooklyn-style, in between the "parallel parking" you see on a typical street !
